How the charity activities deliver public benefit
Ob'ectives
The board of directors have weed 6 broad objectives for the incoming period:
l . Governance. Consolidate staff and service gro￿. Refine board operations aiid eXp￿Id opportunities for
tliose with lived experience and specific skills to play an active role within tlie organisation.
Strategic Development. Foyle Foodbank will continue to work with Tlie Trussell Trust aiid otliers to
deliver on our Strategic Business Plan and Pathfinder Priority Aims document
Partner Aoencies. Acquisition and distrTbution of food remain principal priorities for Foyle Foodbank, and
Erusted partner aoencies are the primary vehicle for food distribution and accomplisliing il)e aim of working to
end poverty in the Foyle constituency and surrounding areas. Building on tliose relationships with trusted
partners is Ley to the Foodbanks success.
4. Public Policy. As an additional approach to addressing the stated mission of 'responding to hunger and
food povety in the Foyle constituency and surrounding areas so that individuals and families in crisis do not
experience hunuer,, the Foyle Foodbank will increase its efforts to influence local and regional policy using
data gathered to lobby those in positions of power.
5. Outreach throu(yhout the Foyle consiituency and Su￿ou￿ding areas. Tlie Foyle Foodbank i¥ill focus on
increasing its presence &id public a￿larenesS throughout the community. This focus is intended to inform tlie
wider community of our support services and reach those most in need or crisis. To enhance fuiid raising.
food-raising, volunteer engatremenL as well as the public's understanding of how the Foyle FOOdb￿]k works,
and how it works with partner aoencies.
6. Financial Resources and Food Supply. Incrvasing financial support through fundraising and securing grants
is priorty to support tlie Fovle Foodbank's work. Given the continued increase in need for food and pressures
on food supply, the charity continues to expand food donors and identify streams of finan¢ial resources
including grant aid.

offices. Tlie centre also has a dernonslration kitchen that is beino used for health)i and low-¢ost cookery
classes benefitting people using the Foodbank.
The Poyle Foodbank's reputation and partnerships continue to secure donations from across the city.
In ?02? our team of arouijd 40 volunteers worked a total of l i.J_i volunteer liours. added to by tlie support
of a number of business orrranisations that our volunteers, commitment and hard work enable the Foodbank to
operate at maximum capacity to support all those in need. We are hugely indebted to diein.

The Gharity has relied principally upon donations in the year. Foyle Foodbank's reputation and partnerships
secured donations from across the Foyle are& In die past year local businesses and individuals have been
extremely generous in their monetary donations to the Foyle Foodbank.
Financial erfonnance
The charity has trenerated a SU￿luS of unrestricted fvnds of £94,104 for the year ended 31 Deceinber ?022
{2021 £85,j?l ) and on restricted ￿ndS a surplus of £4,?81 for the year ended J l December ?0?? (2021
surplus - £6,968). The reserves at the end of the year are £400,196 to the 31 December ?0?? (2021
£301,811). Income and expenditure is expected to vary from year to year depending on funding received and
actiiiities organised as a consequence.
The directors previously agreed that a designated fvnd should be set up to ensure that the equivalent of 3

The board meet on a bimonthly basis and fonnal minute5 are tak'en. The directors alongside the Strategic
Development Manager are responsible for the strategic direction of the Foyle Foodbank. The Strate(TjC
Development Manager is responsible for the overall running and management of all activities, staff and
volunteers at the Foodbank. Reports are presented at board meetings.

The directors are also charity trustees for the purposes of Charity La￿,, Under the requirements of the
Memorandum and Articles of Association directors are elected at an Annual General N4eeting froin amongst

persoii 10 be a director. either to fill a casual vacancy or 8s an addition to the existing directors. Any director
so appointed serves only until the next Annual General Meeting at which directors are to be elected and are
