Trustees' Report for the Year January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025
The Trustees of Belfast Spiritualist Church are pleased to present the Annual Report and Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2025. This report has been prepared in accordance with the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice and outlines the Church’s activities and financial position during the year.
Purpose and Public Benefit
Belfast Spiritualist Church exists to promote the religion and philosophy of Spiritualism. The Church provides weekly Sunday Divine Services and additional services throughout the year, all of which are open to the public.
The Church also supports spiritualist education through classes, workshops, and access to a comprehensive library. Training is provided for those pursuing the Spiritualist Ministry and for Church Trustees, helping to support the ongoing development and governance of the Church.
Public Benefit
Belfast Spiritualist Church provides public benefit through the teaching and practice of Spiritualism. These activities support individuals in developing a closer relationship with God, offering comfort, reassurance, and spiritual support, particularly during times of difficulty.
The Church encourages personal spiritual growth and self-awareness while fostering an inclusive and supportive community. By promoting positive spiritual and moral values, the Church helps individuals become more compassionate, caring, and community-minded.
In addition, the Church offers pastoral support tailored to individual needs, providing guidance, understanding, and care when required.
Public Use of Services
Belfast Spiritualist Church provides a range of services to both members and the wider community, including spiritual healing, guidance, and the officiating of life events such as weddings and funerals. These services form an important part of the Church’s mission to share Spiritualism and support individuals at key moments in their lives.
The Trustees regularly review the value and effectiveness of these services through feedback from attendees, suggestions submitted within the Church, engagement via social media, and discussion at Annual General Meetings.
To support the delivery of these services, appropriate payments are made to a member of the religious ministry who leads them. These payments reflect the necessary costs involved in providing services and enable the Church to continue its spiritual and community work.

2025 Achievements – Key Activities Supporting Public Benefit
Committee Commitment and Community Engagement
The committee of Belfast Spiritualist Church remains committed to ensuring that worship and spiritual practices are open, welcoming, and accessible to all. Efforts are made to create meaningful services that encourage participation from both regular attendees and new visitors.
In addition to overseeing public services, the committee actively seeks opportunities to engage with the wider community and promote involvement in church life. Through worship, shared spiritual values, and regular gatherings, the Church continues to strengthen community connection and a sense of belonging.
Planning and Achievements for 2025
During 2025, the Trustees focused on ensuring that all activities continued to deliver clear public benefit and support the Church’s charitable aims. Alongside regular services, objectives were set to encourage growth and increase engagement with the wider community.
During the year, the Church undertook several actions to support its charitable aims and public benefit, including:

Extending outreach: Increasing use of social media and printed materials to reach a wider audience and promote the benefits of Spiritualist teaching.

Improving education and accessibility: Enhancing educational programmes and developing new materials to support learners at different stages of spiritual development.

Strengthening community links: Increasing local engagement through leaflet distribution and online promotion of Church services.

Enhancing pastoral and healing support: Continuing to develop spiritual healing and personalised pastoral care to meet individual needs and expand access to these services.
These initiatives have strengthened the Church’s ability to support spiritual growth, serve the public, and share its message with care and purpose.
Providing an Open and Welcoming Church
Belfast Spiritualist Church is committed to being an open and inclusive place of worship for all. Divine Services are held every Sunday, alongside additional Spiritualist gatherings during the week, providing opportunities for prayer, healing, reflection, and spiritual connection.
Weekly services continue to be well attended and offer a supportive and uplifting environment. Through these gatherings, the Church promotes the religion and philosophy of Spiritualism, supporting individuals in finding spiritual meaning and positive direction in their lives.

To widen access, the Church has increased the number of services offered and strengthened outreach through leaflet distribution and an expanded online presence. Positive feedback from attendees confirms the value and spiritual benefit of these services.
Providing Spiritual Healing
Spiritual healing continues to be a core part of religious practice at Belfast Spiritualist Church and remains highly valued by those who attend. Demand for healing services has increased in response to emotional, mental, and physical challenges experienced by many within the community.
The Church provides a weekly healing service every Thursday evening and, during 2025, introduced a bi-monthly Sunday Healing Service to increase accessibility. These services offer a calm and supportive environment for reflection, comfort, and renewal.
All healing services are delivered by trained volunteer healers accredited by the Spiritualists’ National Union, ensuring high standards of care, professionalism, and spiritual integrity.
Promoting Pastoral Care
Providing compassionate pastoral support remains central to the work of Belfast Spiritualist Church. Particular care is given to individuals who may be isolated due to illness, age, or personal circumstances, ensuring they feel valued and spiritually supported.
Trustees and volunteers continue to offer regular visits to those unable to attend services, providing prayer, companionship, and emotional support. This pastoral work strengthens connections within the Church and reflects the caring values at the heart of our ministry.
Providing a Weekly Spiritual Awareness Class
The weekly Spiritual Awareness Class remains an important part of the Church’s educational programme and is open to the public. These sessions support spiritual exploration, personal reflection, and inner growth while promoting the philosophy of Spiritualism.
During 2025, the programme was expanded to meet a wider range of learning needs and interests. Attendance and feedback have been positive, demonstrating the value of these classes in supporting spiritual wellbeing and lifelong learning.
Promoting Official Services
Belfast Spiritualist Church continues to provide official services including weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies, and spiritual blessings. These services offer meaningful support during significant life events and provide an important opportunity to engage with the wider community.
All services are conducted by trained and approved members of the ministry team and are delivered with care, respect, and spiritual integrity. Feedback remains positive, highlighting

the comfort and reassurance these services provide and their role in promoting Spiritualism as an inclusive and compassionate faith.
Increasing Awareness Through Social Media and Leaflets
The Church continues to promote its services through social media, its website, and printed leaflets, helping to raise awareness of Divine Services, healing sessions, and educational activities.
This outreach has encouraged greater engagement from both existing members and new visitors and has contributed to increased attendance throughout 2025. The Trustees remain committed to providing spiritual comfort, guidance, and a welcoming environment that positively supports wellbeing within the community.
Structure, Governance, and Management – Appointment of Trustees
Belfast Spiritualist Church is governed under the rules set out in our governing document, Rules for Churches . Trustees are elected annually at the AGM, held on the third Wednesday of February, with nominations seconded by members and final approval determined by vote.
The Church Committee oversees all matters of general importance, including the allocation of funds, and meets monthly to discuss business. Sub-committees focus on specific areas such as spiritual healing, outreach, pastoral care, and education, reporting regularly to the main committee.

Financial Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the year
The accounts for the year 2025 are fully compliant and include a statement of Financial Activities and a balance sheet.
The charity’s accountants/independent examiners are - Cleaver Black Chartered Accountants Suite 5 Ormeau House 91-97 Ormeau Road, Belfast Co. Antrim BT7 1SH
The charity banking account is with Danske Bank.
Finance Report for the year 2025
Total income for the year 1[st] January 2025 to 31[st] December 2025 was £33,324 while total expenditure was £25,788
The Church’s income comes from donations at Divine Services, educational workshops and classes, sales of materials, membership fees, spiritualist readings, and fees for officiating official services.
The accounts showed a good profit of £7,465 for 2025. Our annual accounts continue to be prepared each year by experienced accountants Cleaver Black. The balance sheet continues to remain strong.
Income 2025
There was an overall similar income to the previous year. A smaller number of weddings £5,531 and training/education workshops increased to £7,550 in 2025.
Expenses
The expenditure for the year increased to £25,788 due to building repairs in the last year. Other costs include expenses for workshops, weddings and expenses incurred by an increase in visiting mediums.
Balance Sheet
In 2025, I am pleased to report that the church remains financially secure and maintains a healthy financial position, thanks to careful financial management. (Please refer to the detailed financial accounts below.)
This Trustee Report has been approved by the Church Committee of Belfast Spiritualist Church on 18th February 2026 and signed on their behalf by the Church President, Minister Eamonn Andrews.
