Our Aims and Objectivos

Leafair Community Association Ltd (LCA Ltd), previously known as Leafair Community Association is a
voluntary and charitable organisation based within the Ballyarnett DEA, It was set up with the core aim of
enabling local people who have been excluded from life chances to live fuller lives and participate in their
community. LCA Ltd operates from tlieir community ownedlmanaged Community centre commonly referred to as
'Skeoge House,, whicli encompasses a reccption are￿ office space, a communllvtraining room, an arts and cultural
hub and a coinmunal kitchen. Core activitieslservices at Skeoge House include a Senior Citizens Luncheon Club,
trainin￿education programmes for adults, trainee employment opportunities, a men's health programme, the
Personal Youth Development Programme, youth projects in partnership with the Education Authority and general
community development activities which involve environmental improvement projects, community allotments,
summer festival, Cliristmas Winter Wonderland and a rangc of sociallrecreational activities throughout the year.
LCA Ltd also facilitates public meetings to address communily issues as they arise. actively liaise, work with or
support a range of agencies on a weekly basis and these include Skeoge House Women's Group, Alcohol
Anonymous aftercare project, On the Streets Youtli Initiative who utilise the premises to provide youth
diversionary activities for teenagers in the area and th¢ North West Regional College who utilise 'Skeoge House,
as ali outreacli centre for local and accessible further education programmes. LCA Ltd also manages several social
economy projects such as the Leafair 3G Pitches, Leafair Green Gym, Skeoge Community Transport and Leafair
Men's Workshop.
The Focus of our Work
The main purpose of LCA Ltd 15 to have a more educated and qualified population, a reduction in povety on
people lives and to prevent poverty on people living in the Outer North Area resulting in improved health and
well-being.

Garfield Weston, The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust, The National Lottery Community Fund, Nothern Ireland

Future Fundin
It is expected that Department for Communities and the Big Lottery Community Fund will provide core funding
for the foreseeable future.

Leafair Community Association was established in 1994 as a community led organisation. The association was
Incorporated to a limited company by guarantee on 20 August 2019. The company was granted charitable status
on 12 October 2020. The charitable company was established under Memorandum & Articles of Association
wliich outlined the area of benefit and the objects of the charitabl¢ organisation.

We have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and our
examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission for

accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also
included a consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from

General Informatlon
The charity is a private limited company by guarantee, registered in Northern Ireland and a registered
cliarity in Northern Ireland. The address of the registered olTice is 60a Leafair Park, Derry, B T48 8JT.
1.1. Accounting convention
The significant accounting policies applied in the preparation of these flnancial statements are set out
below. Tliese policies hav¢ been con5i5tently applied to all years presented unless otherwise stated.
Tlie charity constitute5 a public benefit entity as defined by FRSI 02. Tlie financial statements have
been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in notes to the accounts and comply
with the charity's governing document, the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 and Accounting and
Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland publislied in October 2019 (SORP 2019) and the Companies Act 2006.
The financial statements are prepared on a going concern basis urtder the historical cost convention,
modified to included certain items at fair value. The financial statements are presented in sterling
whicli is the functional currency of tlie charity.
1.2. Incomfing resources
All incoming resourc¢s are inGluded in th¢ statement of financial activities when the charity is ¢ntitled to
th¢ incoin¢ and the amount Can be quantified with re&sonable accuracy. The following specifi¢ policies
are applied io particular categories of income:
Voluntary income is rec¢ived by way of grants, donations and gifts and is included in full in the
statement of financial activities wlien receivable. Grants where entitlement is not conditional on the
delivery of a specific perforniance by the charity, are recognised wl)en the charity becomes
unconditionally entitled to tlie grant.
Donated services and facilities are included at the value to the charity where this can be quantified. The
value of services provided by volunteers has not been included.
Gifts donated for resale are included as incoming resources within activities for generating funds when
tliey are sold.
1.3. Resources expended
Expenditure is recognised on an accrual basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT
which cannot be fully recovered, and is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates.
Cliaritable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities and
services for its bencficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly to su¢h activities and
thos¢ ¢osts of an indirect nature n¢cessary to support th¢m.

1.4. Fund accounting
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the directors in furtherance of tlie general
objectives of the charity and which have not been designated for other purposes.
Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by
donors or which have been raised by the charity for purposes. The cost of raising and administering
sucli funds are charged against tlie specific fund.
1.5. Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less depreciation.
Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the Cost or valuation less
residual value of each asset over its expected useful life, as follows:

1.6. Cash at bAnk
Cash at bank and cash equivalents are stated at Cost at the financial year end.
1.7. Capital grants
Capital grants are received in respect of purchase of fixed assets a portion of which is released to the
statement of financial activities in the year of receipt.
1.8. Debtorn & creditors
D¢btors and ¢reditors witli no stated interest rate and receivable or payable within one year are recorded
at traiisaction price. Any losses arising from impaim)ent are recognised in expcnditure.
1.9. Penslon costs
Tlic pension costs charged in the financial statements represent th¢ contributions payable by the charity
during the year.
1.10. Going coneern
The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis as the directors believe that no
material uncertainties exist. The directors liave considered the level of funds held and the expected level
of income and expenditure for 12 months from autliorising these financial statements. The budgeted
incoine and expenditure are sufficient with the level of reserves for the charity to be able to continue as
a going ¢onc¢rn.
