Report for the year l October 2023 to 30 September 2024
Hillsborough Ranger Guides was set up to advance the education of
girls and young women to help them develop emotionally, mentally,
physically, and spiritually so they can make a positive contribution to
their community and the wider world and develop their full
potential.
To this aim, Hillsborough Ranger Guides met each month from
September 2023 to June 2024. Our theme for the year was'travel,.
Activities included:
Welcome back meeting- Games and designing a woven badge
which will become the Hillsborough Ranger badge for our hoodie.
Quiz night- Hillsborough Rangers travelled around the world trip
this year by virtually visiting a country each month.
India - Sample Indian food and make a Tea light to celebrate Diwali
Everest- trip to 'We are vertigo, at Titanic.
Scotland - Completing the GGU Ulster Scots badge. Activities
included making potato bread, testing our Ulster Scots knowledge
and Scottish dancing.
China - Printing on canvas bags and playing traditional Chinese team
games
America- Night at the flicks - Movie & popcorn
Canada- Line Dancing
End of year outing- visit to Let's Go Hydro.

Hillsborough Ranger Guides also ran a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh
Award expedition in June in the Mourne Mountains and a Gold Duke
of Edinburgh's Award expedition in August in The Lake Distrirt
(along with 19th Belfast Rangers).
The trustees believe that the activities organised throughout 2023-24
have met all the public benefit requirements.
In the year from l October 2023 to 30 September 2024, total income
was £10,241.40, with expenditure of £9,072.81, giving a net gain of
£1,168.59.
There are no funds held by the charity which were materially in
deficit at the end of the year.
Hillsborough Ranger Guides are part of Girl Guiding UK, which is
governed by a Royal Charter granted by George V in 1915.
Girlguiding believes In the value of learning by doing. This is put into
practice through a Method with five interlinking elements, known as
the Five Essentials of guiding:
working together in small groups
encouraging self-government and decision making
a balanced and varied programme
caring for the individual
sharing a commitment to a common standard
The Guiding Method is delivered to young members grouped by age
into four sections.. Rainbow Guides, Brownie Guides, Guides and
Ranger Guides. Its principles apply to all members, including adults.
