Kill lea Methodist Youth Club Trustees re ort 2022 2023 Report for year ending 30 May 2023 The youth club has been running since 2tKJ2 and has a long track record of successfully providing a safe space for young people to meet up, participate in programmes, engage in group work activities and learn informally in a fun way using youth work approaches. This year the young people have participated in workshops on various topics e.g Personal Development, Cooking, Internet Safety, healthy relationships etc. The young people also got to attend trips and outings to provide them with new enjoyable experiences. th The youth club year opened on Friday 16 September 2022 with 27 children and young people attending with 5 volunteer leaders. The numbers increased to 35 participants ori 14 October and continued to maintain an average of 26 every Friday ni8ht. A tuck shop was held weekly with some of the senior youth club members helping to serve sweets. crisps and drinks which developed their leadership skills and gave them additional responsibilities. The first outing of the year was to the Ice Bowl in Dundonald on 18 November. 30 children and 3 leaders attended. 15 skated and 15 bowled. The bowling cost £154 and the tran5POrt cost £350. A food stop at McDonalds was a welcomed treat by all who attended. The children were able to afford the outing as it was at a reduced rate of £10 each due to funding provided. We tried to ensure all our trips were affordable for families as we are aware that we are all living in a cost of living crisis. th On Tuesday 25 October members of the youth club were invited by Triangle housing to Armagh City Hotel where we did a presentation explaining the work undertaken by the youth club and the impact we have on the local community. Triangle awarded us a £500 grant and this was used to purchase 40 th pantomime tickets. On Saturday 14 January, 33 children and 5 leaders attended the Portadown pantomime. The coach cost £295 to transport everyone. As a result of invitation by Rev Mark. 2 members of the PSNI attended the youth club on 31" March. This gave the children the opportunity to ask numerou5 questions and inspect the police car. It was a great learning opportunity for our young people and a positive way to build positive relationships between young people and PSNI. Ih A BBQwas held on 28 April to celebrate the Kings coronation which was funded by ABC council with funding for £400. This gave young people and their families to come together to celebrate. This wa5 a great community event and was well attended and supported by local families. This enabled people to connect with each other and meet new people. Pizza Sunday was held ono 23 April. The season finished with a trip to the Ski Slopes in Craigavon. 28 children attended along with 5 leader5. The children paid £10 each. This ski slopes activity cost £240 and bu5 hire was £275. The Education Authority Youth Service awarded a grant of £1400 last year and a promise of the same again this year.
