Loughries Integrated Primary School (LIPS) PTFA is a group of parents of children who attend the school, the school principal and teacher representatives. In close partnership with the school and staff, the PTFA organise various events, activities and fundraisers throughout the academic year.
Parents are encouraged to take an active part in being part of the school community through their PTFA membership and volunteering support, not only the fundraising events but for all key events in the school calendar.
LIPS PTFA helps generate funds to provide educational resources for all areas of the curriculum which benefit the educational progress of all children which would otherwise not be available through direct funding of the school.
All decisions on how the funds raised should be spent are agreed by the PTFA Committee, the school principal and teaching staff prior to any purchase being made. The committee meets regularly throughout the academic year and holds a yearly Annual General Meeting where committee members for each year are agreed.

The year was very busy, with a number of events and activities being arranged between September and May. The year began with a team of parents, teachers and governors running the Ards 5 Mile Challenge, which was very successful both in terms of funds raised and the participation of LIPS children on the water station. They were a credit to the school and seemed to enjoy the evening. October was a busy month with a bag pack at ASDA, followed by the Halloween Monster Mash Disco, which again the pupils and their friends very much enjoyed. The festive period was hectic, with the PTFA organising both a Fireside Quiz and Raffle.
The start of 2025 was relatively quiet in terms of events, although lots of planning and organising went on in the background, to ensure that the planned spring events were successful. A second bag pack was organised for March, followed by a night of fun and trivia (Table Quiz) at the Ballyblack Church Hall.
May sawa Tesco bag pack at the beginning of the month, followed by the traditional May Fun Night, which included the Stena Line raffle. In addition to all of these events, the PTFA provided extensive refreshments at sports day and the open evening.
Outside of these activities, the PTFA were successful in applying for a stronger starts Tesco grant (£500), which was done on behalf of the school.

SCHOOL CONTRIBUTIONS & EXPENDITURE
The first major school contribution for the year was the annual pantomime trip, which for the last few years has been fully funded by the PTFA. In December the entire school got to enjoy a performance of Frozen at Stranmillis, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Also in December, each child received a selection box, which was also funded by the PTFA.
In the previous financial year (23 / 24) the PTFA had made contributions towards new whiteboards (£2,632.5) and a final contribution was made in January 2025 for £500, bringing total PTFA contributions across both years to £3,132.5.
In April, each child received an Easter Egg and in Maya fifty percent contribution was made towards P7 Leaver Hoodies. The largest contribution in the year was for new books for Key Stage Two children. It was agreed that many ofthe books needed to be replaced, so 288 new books arrived[in] May.[Finally,] our P7 children all received a small present (book, arranged by Mrs Gibson) before embarking on the next chapter of their educational journey.

6. PUBLIC BENEFIT REPORTING
Purpose 1: to advance the education of pupils in the school.
The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are increased educational progress and encouraged attainment of pupils within the school and links built with the local community. These benefits are evidenced by pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community, which are not available through direct school funding.
Purpose 2: to improve relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school.
The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include funding for additional resources for the school and links built within the local community. The benefit of these actions is engagement in parental support leading to prospering relations between school and home and the local community.
|
Charity trustees are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. Any benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.
7. FUTURE PLANS 25/26
No firm plans are currently agreed yet, but discussions will begin at the AGM (Sept 2025). The PTFA is hoping to repeat the success achieved in the past year by continuing to build our school community ethos.
The financial statements and reports have been prepared in line with the Northern Ireland Charity Commission guidance, the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2022, the Charities (Account & Reports) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008 and the Charities statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) (FRS102).
