Artsawonder TRUSTEES, REPORT for the financial year ended 31 March 2023 The trustees present their Trustees. Report and the unaudited financial statements for the financial year ended 31 March 2023. Mission, Objectives and Strategy Mission Statement In all activities the Charity Trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission for Northem Ireland's statutory public benefit guidance to ensure that activities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the charity's aims and objectives as well as providing public benefit. Objectives Purpose of Charity PURPOSE 1.. To facilitate events and proc8ss which create the space for transfomiative dialogue, utilising the potenlial of the arts for healing and mutual understanding direc*ed at specific groups of leaders orland local Givil society in N. Ireland. PURPOSE 2- To advance 8ducation lo promote understanding and citiz8nship utilising the potential of the arts for healing and mutual understar]ding directed at school groups from primary to secondary level, in the local area and the rest of N. Ireland curriculum, in particular to school groups with a view to encouraging civic leadership. Main activities undertaken by the charity are: During the period covered by this report Artsawonder carried out the following activities= The Rostrevor Ongoing Conversation Think Tank {ROC-rr) continued meeting with 3 face-to-face meetings and 3 Zoom meetings with one of the meetings held in Dublin. These are private meetings of former elected politicians reflecting on the current political situation and using their circle of influence lo loster peace and reconciliation. Project funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs {Rol}. Kinship of Difference is a programme which goes oyt into the various communities and lebrateS the hidden possibilities of togethemess. They were hèld in East Belfast and in Roslrevor. Projects funded by the Community Relations Council (Nl}. Artsahealing This pioneering project consisted of a day long seminar with leading Acad8mics and Practitioners looking at the contribution Arts and Music can make to the well-being of society. Open to the public, we examined the historic relationship beleen medicine and music to bring us up lo date with the very latest scientific evidence available. This seminar would later lead to invites from Cambridge University and the Royal Society of Medicine to further explore the concept. This project was funded by private donors. Diversity Summer Camp This project is designed for Children aged 6 to 1 Syrs old. It brought together children from diverse nationalities, religions and ethnicities. Through games, crafts and arts they leamt of th8ir different cultures with respect and inlerest. The we31th of diverse cultures was highlighted. This project was funded via Newry, Moume and Down District Council through Peace 4. Guardian of the flame is the name of a film produced by Jonny Clark introducing victims and bereaved from the troubles highlighting how they kept working for peace and reconciliation. The screening was followed by a discussion. The project was repeated in various locations. This project Was fijnded via Newry, Moume and Down District Council through Peac8 4. structure. Artsawonder TRUSTEES, REPORT for the financial year ended 31 March 2023 Governance The principal docum8nt regarding govemance of the charity is the constitution. The charity is an unincorporated organisation. Review of Activities, Achievernents and Perfonnance During all activities, the direct beneficiaries are those taking part in the event and those in the audience. The secondary beneficiaries are those in the circle of influence of the participants. The ROC-Th is not a public meeting but benefits are expressed through circ18s of influence and ultimately the wider ohort of end beneficiarTes is the citizenry of Northem Ireland. The activities (Kinship of Difference) fostered a greater inter cultural awareness, increasing individual and community confidence in each community's own cultural and artistic identity, thus also promoting respect for the cultural and artistic identity of another community. as se8n in the vid80 documentaries which have all been shown by Northem Vision Community T.V. The Diversity Summer Camp fostered a greater intercultural awareness among a younger population, incr8asing confidence and respect in each community's own cultural and artistic identity. Guardian Df the flame.. this project furthered reftection on the legacy of the troubles and as it was attended by older and younger members of the community help intergenerational transfer of knowledge. The Artsahealing project involved academics and added a more scientific affirmation to the intuitive knowledge that arts and music have a role to play in Peace and reconciliation. Any privat8 benefit gained by these activities were incidenlal and necessary to the running of th8 activities. Financial Review The results for the financial year are set out on page 7. Results and Dividends At the end of the financial year the charity has assets of £20,664 (2022 - £14,032) and liabilities of £0.00 {2022 £O.00}. Th8 net ass8ts ofthe charity have increased by £6,632. Artsawonder INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF ARTSAWONDER We have examined th8 financial statements of the charity for the financial year ended 31 March 2023, which comprise the Financial Statemenls, the Accounting Policies and the related notes. This report is made solely to the charity's members, as a body, in accordance with the Charities Act (Northem Ireland) 2008. Our work has been undertaken so that we might compile the financia1 statements that we have been engaged to compile, report to the Board of Trustees that we have done so, and state those matters that we have agreed to slate to them in this report and for no other purpose. To the fvllest extent pemiitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charity and the charity's members, as a body, for our work, or for this report. R&spective responsibillties of trustees and examiner The charity's trustees are responsibl8 for the preparation of the fftnancial statements in accordance with the requirements Df the Charities Act (Northem Ireland) 2008. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this financial year under the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 and that an independent examination is required. It is our responsibility to.. examine the financial statements under section 65 of the Charities Act- follow the procedures laid down by the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northem Ireland under section 65{91{bl of the Charities Act., and state whether particular matters have come to our attention. Basis of independent examinar's report We have examined your charity financial statements as required under section 65 Df the Charities Act and our examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(91(bl of the Charities Act. An examination includes a review of the accounting r8cords kept by the charity and a comparison of the financial statements presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the financial statements and seeking explanations from the trustees conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide 811 the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as lo whether the accounts present a 'true and fair. view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. In connection with our examination, no matt8r has come to our attention which gives us cause to believe that in, any material respect-. accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 63 of the Charities Act the ffinancial statements do not accord with those accounting records that the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements Df th8 Charities Acl there is ftjrther information needed for a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
