Trustee Report for Friends of Derrymore
This report relates to 1[st] April 2022 to 31[st] March 2023
Friends of Derrymore is a charity that is run by a committee elected each year at the Annual General Meeting. The committee currently consists of a Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. The three elected members are also Trustees of the charity. Other members help with the practical arrangements of the charity. All trustees and volunteers give their time freely and no
remuneration or other benefits are received. The committee works in very close connection with the Principal (also a Trustee) and staff.
Overall, we are a fundraising organisation but an important part of our role is also strengthening and encouraging the home/school relationship, where teachers and parents work together to support and enhance the education of our children.
Summary of the charity’s main activities/achievements
-
Leavers event June 2022
-
The AGM on 8[th] November 2022.
-
Christmas Disco
• Free Christmas Raffle for pupils Discussion and ideas for further events to help with the following were discussed:
-
Possibility of helping to buy licences for Reading Eggs, Maths Seeds and Mathletics. We believe that access to these learning resources will greatly benefit all pupils both in school and at home.
-
Possible fundraising to help offset the cost of weekly Bee Active sessions.
-
C2K currently oversee and provide a secure network and hardware to our school. They have informed us that we will be losing a number of our PCs and laptops. The ICT room in school is a vital resource which provides pupils with the opportunity to develop essential skills. Fundraising ideas to raise money to replace these machines in the computer room.
Due to unforeseen circumstances (a berievement), in the period from December 2022 to March 23 no further events were arranged.
Future Plans
We would like to build on the success of the after schools activities and
continue to try and fund a range of activities to suit the interests of all pupils, their families and the wider community.
The group would also like to contribute to enhancements to vital ICT equipment, ipads and PCs.
The school needs to update Literacy resources, it is the group’s intention to assist with fundraising to help purchase these.
The Committee would like to express their thanks to all members of the group, all school staff and all parents who continue to contribute and support their fundraising attempts. It is very much appreciated.
The trustees have had regard to the Commission’s Public benefit requirement statutory guidance.
