The Group is constituted and govemed in accordance with the policy, organisation and rules of the
Scout Association, incorporated by the Royal Charter.
The Purpose of Scouting
Scouting exists to activeLy engage and support young peopLe in their personal deveLopmenL
empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
Key activitieslachievements to further our charitable purposes for the benefit of our beneficiaries
Weekly section meetings during term-time, foLLowed a structured programme of age-reLated games
and activities, to engage and support young people in their personaL deveLopmenL empowering them
to make a positive contribution to society.
Annually, the sectional weekLy programmes move from Lowe to ArdnavaLLy Scout Centre from Easter
to June, foLLowing an outdoor programme, and covering a range of age-reLated outdoor activities.
Sections attended a number of camps and outdoor events, from Activity Days/Competitions to weekend
sLeepovers and camps, with aLL attending a District Camp at ArdnavaLLy Scout Centre in June. In
particular, the Scouts attended a back-to basics camp at Lisburn Woods and sent their PatroL Leaders
on a training weekend, the ExpLorers had 'escape' adventures, and the Cubs held a Space themed
Camp and participated in the County FLag competition, demonstrating their scouting skills. The Beavers
had a 'discovery' themed SLeepover, and the Squirrels. alongside the Beavers and Cubs. attended
outdoor HaLLowe'en and Christmas events.
ALL sections are active: the SquirreLs (4-6), Beavers (6-8). Cubs (8-10), the Scouts (10-14), and the
ExpLorer section (14-18). We continue to have a totaL membership of over 100 and young people in aLL
sections have been awarded the top awards of Chief Scout Acorn, Chief Scout Bronze. Chief Scout
Silver and Chief Scout Gold Awards.
The Scout Group greatLy appreciates the encouragement provided by Lowe MemoriaL Church in their
unwavering support and in the use of their premises.
The Leadership teams in each section appreciate the work of the Group Trustee Board, who support the
work done by the group, both with their time and financiaLLy. Funds are allocated to enhance activities
and events that encourage our young peopLe to become more independent and seLf-reLianL developing
teamwork and skiLLs for Life.
The 109th is also grateful to the EA for their GeneridNon-targeted Funding GranL and the
FountainviLLe Scout Development TrusL both of which enable us to provide such a variable programme.
The operation of the Scout Group depends on volunteers. CounciL records their thanks to Leaders who
give their time freeLy on a weekLy basis to provide a quality Scouting programme for the benefit of our
young peopLe.
