END OF YEAR ONE EVALUATION OF PROJECT 2023

It’s been another fantastic, busy, invigorating and successful year for us at SPARYA. We have been very lucky and thankful that we have had the means to successfully help and run projects that our community, residents and young people have asked to be a part of.

Over the last 12 months we have increased the numbers of people using our centre, this is through what projects we run, we have seen a large increase in our youth project, men’s group, women’s group, pensioners trips, mother and toddlers group but also we have been able to help a lot of residents in need within Springhill Park area.

Our main success this year from the group’s point of view is definitely our Mothers and Toddlers group; we identified this need in early 2019 but never had the opportunity to have a positive impact on it. This year we have run 4 different 12 week classes and covered 4 different aspect of development for kids 0-3 years old. With numbers for the classes being oversubscribed they’ve been that well received.

An area we feel we need to readdress in 2024 is our Youth Project, we have recently received £166, 000 from the Big Lottery Fund for Youth Leader salary, volunteer cost of youth volunteers, Summer Scheme and A Healthy eating for our young people, and this is from 2023 until 2028, although they will not be covering project costs of the youth clubs themselves, and this is a vital part of our youth education and wellbeing. So in this year’s proposal we will be addressing that need.

Another great achievement for us this year is that we have received our designs and sign over date of our new community centre which will be in place in early 2026. We would love to share the designs with Greystone when they come see us again in the near future.

As we do every year here at SPARYA we want to show you exactly what we’ve up to, so please enjoy reading and seeing how great our project has been in 2023.

CHAIRPERSON ADDRESS

I was re-elected for my second year as the Chairperson at our AGM in March 2023, I feel very lucky to be able to work at this great community project, which is at the heart of our thriving community.

I was the person that put the community centre back here in 1998 and to be back where my heart is means so much to me, this community is my home, and to be addressing serious issues within this community is so important to me.

I must give a special mention to or staff and volunteers, without their long hours, dedication and constant time they put into our group we would not be able to do what we do, so it’s vital we show our appreciation.

We’ve had a really successful year here in Springhill Park; the community has become so involved with the association, through different events and projects that we have run throughout year.

I hope in 2024 we have such a successful year and we appreciate Greystone Ltd supporting us and for giving us the tools we need to do our job.

PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR ADDRESS

It has been a great 2023 for us here at SPARYA, we have been extremely busy over the year, in a positive light we have helped so many residents and children within the space of 12 months.

As a part of my job I have to identify what needs are needed within the area, and also to make sure those areas are addressed within the year.

We back in 2021 had identified a need for a Mothers and Toddlers within the area, in 2022 and with funding for that group, we opened registration and we where mobbed with numbers from the area, we ran different classes over 12 week.

I am really excited regarding our plans for 2024, we are striving every year to improve and have a greater impact on our community, youth and residents.
