Activities

The Objects of the Association are as follows: a) For community participation in healthy recreation by providing opportunities for people of all abilities and ages (including those who would otherwise be unlikely to be involved in such a sport or to have the opportunity to do so), in particular fly-fishing in Northern Ireland (hereinafter called the area of benefit) for or complete beginners. b) to promote good community relations through the provision of opportunities for positive cross community contact through the medium of the sport of angling. c) to promote healthy outdoor recreation and good mental health amongst the community within the area of benefit, including amongst those who are disadvantaged; and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for the sport of angling and for other recreational, educational ,and leisure-time occupation either for the benefit of those in need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage or for the benefit of the members of the community within the area of benefit at large, so that their conditions of life may be improved; d) to advance environmental protection and improvement by managing outdoor grounds and facilities used for the purposes of the Association responsibly and ecologically and improving damaged natural environments, assisting with the reintroduction of fauna and flora and biodiversity, and to educate the public in these respects; and, ancillary to the foregoing:- e) to provide support (financial or otherwise) to such charitable institutions or such other purposes exclusively charitable under the law of Northern Ireland, as the Committee may from time to time identify, provided that the Committee’s recommendations in this regard are approved at a general meeting of the Members.
