The Executive Committee of Family Comfort NI presents its report and the financial statements for the year ended 31[st ] December 2025. Legal and administrative information set out on page 1 forms part of this report. The financial statements comply with statutory requirements and the Accounting and Reporting by Charities. 

## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Governing Document.** 

Family Comfort NI is a registered charity governed by the Constitution reviewed and updated on 26/05/20. 

## **Appointment, Induction and Appointment of Trustees** 

Trustee selection method s including details of Election to post any constitutional provisions e.g., election to post or name of any person or body entitled to appoint one or more trustees 

## **Risk Management.** 

The trustees have a risk management strategy, which comprises of: 

- An annual review of the risks the charity may face 

- The establishment of systems and procedures to mitigate those risks identified in the plan: and 

- The implementation of procedures designed to minimise any potential impact on the charity should those risks materialise. 

## **Principal Activity:** 

The objects of the charity are exclusively charitable being the benefit to women and young people (families) by means of family support programs, creating awareness, provision of opportunities for creativities and empowerment.

## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE** 

2025 has been a landmark year for our community support initiatives. While the landscape remains challenging, we are driven by the visible progress and the vital support our neighbors Statement: Supporting Our Community 

As we continue to advocate for families at the grassroots level particularly those facing marginalization and discrimination we are proud to share the reach of our 2025 initiatives: 

- 180+ Families & Individuals Supported: We provided diverse, person-centered aid to ensure no one in our community was left behind. 

- 68 Empowerment Sessions: We hosted over five dozen sessions designed to boost -confidence in our young people. 



- Cultural & Social Resilience: Our programs fostered a deep mutual understanding across different cultures, strengthening the social fabric of our neighbourhood. 

Our Diverse Range of Activities 

To build this resilience, we engaged our participants through a variety of hands-on programs: 

- Health & Wellness: Fitness programs and well-being workshops. 

- Skills & Education: Empowerment through ICT (tech) training and cookery classes. 

- Creativity & Connection: Arts and crafts, interactive games, and outdoor adventures. 

Our Approach: Intervention & Education 

We work collaboratively with parents and children to identify moments of vulnerability, allowing us to provide early intervention and tailored support when it is needed most. 

## Education & Empowerment 

Through our learning and information services, we provide families with the tools to enrich themselves and their wider community. Our programs are designed to: 

- Promote Awareness: Educating the community on critical social and personal issues. 

- Unlock Potential: Giving young people equal opportunities to reach their full potential. 

- Enhance Wellbeing: Boosting physical and mental health through dedicated wellness initiatives. 

## Building Bridges: The Ethos of Our Work 

At the heart of our project is the belief that cultural understanding is the key to unity. We create safe spaces where: 

- Parents and Youth Connect: Bridging the generational gap through shared activities. 

- Neighbors Become Friends: We facilitate direct contact between families from diverse backgrounds, helping those who have lived side-by-side but in isolation to finally connect. 

- Sustained Relationships: We don't just host one-off events; we build the foundation for long-term, continuous community bonds. 

## **Financial Review** 

The statement of Financial Activities shows a total income for the year of £99,701 and expenditure of £98,413, resulting in a surplus of £1,288 for the year.

## **RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TRUSTEES** 

Trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the charity (account and report) regulation of Northern Ireland 2015 which give a true and fair view of the asset and liability of the charity; and any surplus or deficit for that year. 

Preparing the financial statements, trustees are required to; 

1. Choose suitable account policies and apply them consistently 

2. Make reasonable and wise judgements and estimations 

3. Prepare financial statements on-going concern basis unless the presumption that the charity will continue is in-appropriate. 

The trustees are solely responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time of the financial position of the charity. They are responsible to safeguard the charity assets and taking reasonable actions for the prevention and detection of fraud and any other irregularities.

- examine the accounts under section 64 of the Charities Act; 

- follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for the Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act; and State whether particular matters gave come to my attention.

I have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act. 

My examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as charity trustees concerning any such matters. 

My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention giving me cause to Believe: 

1. That accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 63 of the Charities Act 

2. That the accounts do not accord with those accounting records 

3. That the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act 4. That there is further information needed for a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES: Basis of accounting** 

The charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) issued on 16 July 2014, the Charities Act 2011 and UK Generally Accepted Practice as it applies from 1 January 2015. 

## **Income** 

All income is recognised once the Centre has entitlement to the income, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured reliably. 

## **Expenditure** 

Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to make payment to a third party, it is probable that settlement will be required and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis 

## **Restricted funds** 

Restricted income received are accounted for separately as restricted funds and are used for the purposes specified by the donor
