OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The purpose of the charity as set out in its governing document is to advance health and wellbeing, parXcularly mental health, of pregnant women, parents, their support networks and the health professionals, volunteers and other related professions supporXng them. The main acXviXes undertaken in relaXon to those purposes are creaXng and sustaining peer support networks led by parents, providing wellbeing programs, counselling and social
connecXon. Training and educaXon are also provided on parental mental illness and its treatments as well as training for peer support leaders.
ACHEIVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
staff team remained the same, but with the addiXon of an apprenXce fundraiser funded by Rank FoundaXon for the period of one year. Our suite of programs was perfected and we delivered a full year of acXviXes to over 400 parents. We began tesXng our new monitoring and evaluaXon framework which showed very promising results, with 85% of parents experiencing improvement in their mental health, 68% experiencing an improvement in their parenXng, and 59% experiencing an improvement in their physical health. 100% of parents rated our course content as ‘Excellent’. Our counselling service also conXnues to thrive with our waiXng list now completely empty due to our new sign up process. Parents aZending counselling reported a 66% decrease in psychological distress on average. Our social connecXon acXviXes in Belfast and Ballymena also conXnue to grow in popularity.
Overall, it has been a very successful year.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
restricted, with a sum of £104,187 being rolled forward into the new financial year. This year also saw our annual income grow slightly to £255,386. Our reserves conXnue to be very small (£6533) as we have had limited success with fundraising due to capacity and funding. We trust that the next financial year will see us being able to increase the delivery of our services through further growth.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The charity is consXtuted as a private company limited by guarantee without share capital. It is governed by its memorandum and arXcles of associaXon.
New trustees may be appointed by ordinary resoluXon observing the requirements of the arXcles of associaXon.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounXng records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any Xme the financial posiXon of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevenXon and detecXon of fraud and other irregulariXes.
