N IMAST provides a regional forum for indtviduals a professional interest in
stroke care across.the statutory, voluntary and independent sectots in order to
promote excellenGe in stroke delivery across Northem Ireland.
NI MAST supports stroke specific training, research and education and increases
members, knowledge through the sharing and dissemlnation of in￿rmatiOn and
experim relating to stroke care. NIMAST also provide input into national
guidelines and Tespomd to the requests of other organisations for advice on
matt￿5 relating to stroke care. It also provtde expert advi￿ [￿ardIng stroke
health pollcy and service.ddivery and lobbvs for better stroke Servi￿ and
provision .It represents members on national committees. and fonims .
Activities in.2022 -2023
NIMAST.hoste.d a study day in Ulster University on the Stroke Sentind National
Audit PriyJram ( SSW ) for stroke clinicians across Nl .on 301h June 2022 with
approximately 60 attendees. from across the region .
The first All-lsland Stroke Conference (delivered virtually) was. joinlly organized
and hosted by Irish Heart Foundation arKI NIMAST on 30th June. 2022 with
attend￿ from across the island of Ireland .
NIMAST is repres&rted on the Intercollegiate Stroke Working Party ( ICSWP )
and attends 3 online meetings and one face to face meeting per year.
This group oversees the development and produrtK)n of Ihe evidence base for
stroke and the Stroke Sentinel National Audit Program( SSNAP) - As part of this
group. we were involved in updating Nationd Clinical Guidelinesft>r Stroke 2023
and provided finanoal support for trEir development. NIMAST atterKled and
spoke at the launch in London on 19th April 2023.

NIMAST are. a registered stakeholders for the NICE stroke rehabilitation
guidellnes and.members provided feedback. and comment prior to their
publication in October 2023.
NIMAST also. represents members at the Nl Stroke Steering .Group and meets
every quarter. This group infoms, oversee and monitors stroke. care delivery
across Nl.
AST is also represented at UKSF scientifiG and Pl
nning committee to inform
and organise the annual UK stroke fonjm. The role entails Identsf￿ng Northern
Irish speakers arKJ research ensuring Northem Ireland is represented in the
programme.
