Trustee’s Annual Report

Julie Gallagher as manager along with Jo and Tara as assistants are a committed team who never cease to meet the demands of the playgroup by ensuring versatile and fun activities for the children whilst ensuring their safety.

Together working in partnership with parents to care for children in a loving environment working within the framework of the preschool curricular guidance.

At preschool the children – make friends, learn to share, build relationships, develop skills, play, talk to each other and begin to be school ready.

For preschool children we look at prime areas, communication, language, physical skills, and personal, social, and emotional development. Once they are secure and settled, we then start introducing the specific areas of the EYFS, literacy, mathematics creative development and understanding the world.

Our monthly plans are displayed in the cloakroom so you can be aware of what our learning aims are for each month. This is then broken down into weekly plans where daily activities are laid out.

We conduct observations on children which are vital for tracking your child’s progress at pre-school and we review each child’s file half termly to enable planning for the next half term, ensuring extra support is given if needed or more challenges are set for children progressing above expected levels.

As we have still been starting children last term, we have been focusing on settling the children and building strong relationships with parents and carers.

We have an open-door policy and encourage parents to speak, so together we can support your child’s learning.

Moving forward, we will have a settled routine in pre-school and look forward to our Christmas preparations including our Christmas Santa experience and end of term party.

Fundraising – We have one main fundraiser activity that will take place next term. A sponsored walk is currently in the process of being planned for the end of January/start of February. All the children are invited to participate.

Inspection – We were inspected in October by the early years team. There is a very strict set of guidelines any childcare facility must follow - the minimum standards. Our aim is to continually meet these standards and exceed them were possible. The inspection went very well. We have just received the draft copy, once the final copy is delivered it will be available for parents to view.

Thank you once again for all your support, if you have any ideas about how we can enhance your child’s learning experience here at Doagh preschool Playgroup we would love to hear from you.
