The Trustees present their report and accounts for Sensory Kids for the year ended 31 January 2024.
Public Benefit Statement
The Trustees of Sensory Kids confirm that they have had due regard for the guidance on Public Benefit by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland and are pleased to report that during the period the group continued to provide the Public Benefits through the programmes and services on offer. In particular, the Trustees consider how planned activities will contribute to the aims and objectives they have set.
Public Benefit
The direct benefits which flow from our purpose include children and young people growing in self-confidence and an improvement in their mental health and social skills. The participants will excel feel included in an organisation where they feel like they belong. The service will provide training to teachers and professionals where we explain the benefits of sensory in their line of work.
Sensory Kids carries out its purpose by treating all children and young people with mental and physical disabilities equal. We use our sensory group sessions and 1:1 sensory training to improve the wellbeing of children and young people with the intention of teaching sensory integration dysfunction to children, young people, families and professionals.
Achievements and Performance
We moved premises to The Junction in Antrim and have embedded ourselves into our new community with over 800 children and adults visiting the Sensory Hub within the first 4 months of opening. Our volunteers have undertaken further training in therapies and are making connections within the local schools. We are very pleased with the progress of Sensory Kids in the last year and continue to raise awareness for disabilities.
Sensory Kids is a non-profit making organisation. Total income for the year amounted to £194,838. Income derived from donations and gifts amounted to £11,005 and other income from grant bodies and charitable activities amounted to £183,833.
Total expenditure for the year amounted to £218,651.
The net income for the year amounted to (£23,812) with net assets of £906 at 31 January 2024; represented by (£2,988) of unrestricted funds and £3,894 restricted funds. The Trustees consider that Sensory Kids is in a satisfactory position to carry on its charitable activities.
