Legal structure of the charlty: The charity is constituted as an unincorporated charity, established by a written constitution approved by the members, and endorsed by the Charity Commission in Northern Ireland ICCNII. There are no restrictions in the governing documents on the oper8tion of the Charity or on its investment powers other than those imposed by Charity Law. The Church acknowledges the headship of Jesus Christ over his Church and exlsts to glorify the Triune God by maintaining and promoting His worship both individually and corporately. Its members devote themselves to the teachings of the Scripture, to fellowship. breaking of bread, prayer, and evangelism. They commit, with the help of God, to witness to the saving and sust8ining power of the Lord Jesus Christ 8nd to work for the extension of His Kingdom. The principal charitable object of the church is the advancement of the Christian faith according to the te8chings of the Scripture. the Doctrinal Statement and Baptist principles. The m8in activities undertaken in relation to these purposes are as follows: Holding regular services for public worship, prayer, Bible study, preaching and te8ching for all age groups, and providlng pastoral care to the members of the church through visitation and prayer. Organising meetings and events that promote our charitable purpose. Participating in the life of the local community. Supporting other Christian organisations 8nd charities through volunteering, financial gifts, and pr9yer. The maln actlvltles undertaken durlngthe year tofurther the charity's purposefor the publlc benefit: Adults: We aim to offer opportunities for discipleship to equip people to grow into devoted followers of Jesus: Various Small Groups for men & women- Throughout the year we offer a variety of small groups which allow participants to focus in on a particular study or course for a short period of time. These have included book clubs, Precept's bible studies, courses to help live out the Christian life, as well as social events and breakfasts. Page14 Ballykeel Baptist Church Trustees, Annual Report for the year ended 31 January 2024 Youth: We seek to provide a cycle of activities to help young people encounter the big God of the Bible while coming alongside them dealing with issues they are confronting and drawing from our own life experience. Chlldren: There are a range of activities for children aged o- 11 years in our Crèche, Children's Meeting and Mums &Tots. Community: We are engaged in a variety of activities to help live out God's love in our community: We support Connect- which offers a place for the community of Dromar8 to come together regularly offering light refreshments, an opportunity to chat and provide links into other services. Mums & Tots - is a place for parents and carers to bring their children and have a time of fellowship while the kids play in a safe environment. Fellowship Hour- provides an opportunity for senior members of the Gommunity to meet for fellowship, teaching and light refreshments. The maln achlevements and performance of the charlty durlngthe year: The Church continued to hold regu18r services for public worship and org8nised events that promoted fellowship amongst the members of the church and provided outreach opportunities with the wider community las detailed above). The difference the charity's performance during the year h8s made to the beneficiaries of the ch8rity and to wider society. The Church continued to provide benefit to its members and the public by making known the Christian gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ through the advancement of the Christian faith. Structure, governance, and management otthe charity: The methods used to recruit and appoint new charity trustees- In accordance with the constitution. the Church sh811 actively promote a Board of Trustees which includes a range of skill, experience, and knowledge in keeping with the pursuance of its Objects. Flnancial review: The church is funded by voluntary gifts and donations, and we make use of both the Gift Aid and Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme. The church does not seek funds from other sources. Income for the year ended January 2024 increased by 8.37% to £192,066, this includes an amount of £20,822 in respect of Gift Aid Rebates. Expenditure was 17.130/0 higher at £184,417 resulting in a surplus for the year of £7,649. Uncleared payments at the 31.of January came to £868. Expenditure was greatly increased because of the cost related to such high inflation. Page15 Ballykeel Baptist Church Trustees, Annual Report forthe year ended 31 January 2024 The Church uses Restricted and Unrestricted Funds in its accounting policies. Restricted Funds are used for money donated to the Church for specific purposes such as Missions, Youth Ministries etc. Unrestricted Funds from general offerings are used for all other purposes. Any shortfalls in the Restricted Funds are made up by transfers from the Unrestricted Fund. Reserves Policy: A policy on reserves has been reviewed and agreed by the Trustees. The income of the church is stable, and the risk of a sudden significant reduction of income is regarded as unlikely. In the event of an unexpected financial need the Trustees are confident that members would respond accordingly. The Trustees are satisfied that a figure equating to approximately two months, expenditure is an appropriate level of reserve balances at the present time. Cash balance at year end exceeded th8 level of Reserves required. These reserves will be kept in the unrestricted funds goingforward, but If the need arises ca be transferred to unrestricted funds to cover any shorttalls or unforeseen needs. In preparing those financial statements the Trustees are required to: to prepare the accounts in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting standards and applicable lawl. select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently. make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent. prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business. state whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements. Page16 Ballykeel Baptist Church Trustees, Annual Report for the year ended 31 January 2024 The 18w requires that the trustees must not approve the accounts unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fairview of the state of affairs of the charity and of the surplus or deficit of the charity for the year. The Trustees are also responsible for maintaining adequate accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at anytime the financial position of the charity and which are sufficient to show and explain the charity's transactions and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with regulations made under the Charities (Northern Ireland) Act 2008, as amended. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. The Trustees are also responsible for the contents of the Trustees, report, and the statutory responsibility of the Independent Examiner in relation to the Trustees, report is limited to examining the report 8nd ensuring that, on the face of the report, there are no material inconsistencies with the figures disclosed in the financial statements.
