Governing Document

The charity's activities are governed by a Constitution Document approved and adopted on 29[th] April 2019.

## Recruitment and appointment of new trustees

With each new yearly intake of pupils, any parent, guardian or carer of a pupil at Ashgrove Nursery School is automatically a member of the PTA. Committee membership relies on parents volunteering their services. Ashgrove Nursery School PTA membership is promoted at our Induction meeting for new parents, parent information meetings throughout the academic year, fundraising events, and through School News Sheets. Committee posts are filled every year in September at the first PTA General Meeting and new parents are actively encouraged to stand for election.

Induction and training of new trustees

New committee members are inducted into the workings of the charity and its relationships to the school. Office bearers are provided with guidance and support from the previous incumbent and SMT.

Governance

We have new members of staff who are now listed trustees on the PTA bank account.

## Charity Purpose:

The purpose of this charity is to advance the education of pupils in the school by:

- Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents, and others associated with the school.

- Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils

## Summary of main events and activities to further the charity’s purposes:

We could only carry out a few fundraising activities due to a change in staff and management. Our parents are finding the financial climate quite difficult and for this reason, we have stepped back a little from fundraising activities.

We held a Movie Night event in May 2023 and a Shorts and Shades disco event in June 2023 for the children raising the sum of £1072.60.

As you can see from the statements provided, we have not generated much income but have several bank charges.

If you require any further information, please let me know.

## Trustee Statement

The Trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s public benefit requirement statutory guidance.

## Trustee Responsibilities

Charity regulations require the trustees to prepare accounts for each financial year which show the incoming resources and application of the resources of the charity in the year. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the charity's legislation and guidance from the Charity Commission. They are also responsible for safeguarding the charity's assets and hence for taking reasonable steps to prevent and detect fraud and other irregularities. The trustees' report was approved on 7[th] July 2024 and is signed on their behalf by:

Nicola Cruickshank
