LURGANVILLE AND DISTRICT COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT 2023124
Our 2023-24 has, again, been a very busy and successful year for our group with in excess of 12 events being
organised.
This past year we have visited The Ulster Folk Park, Carlingford, Montalto Estate, Christmas shopping in
Ballymena, Christmas dinner in the Ashburn Hotel and afternoon tea in Brownlow House all of which were
either self-funded or subsidised by the group. The Treasurer will mention the ones that were Grant Aided.
As well as our day trips we have provided meals in the hall. These meals allow those less mobile to come
together to meet their friends and neighbours, enjoy some refreshments and forge new friendships.
Thanks, yet again, to Hillsborough Castle Gardens Community Access Scheme, we were able to bring up to
20 people to celebrate their Specialist Political Tour, Honeybee Fair, Bird workshop, as well as their
Halloween, Christmas and Easter events. We were even able to bring the Tuesday morning Coffee Group
from here to the Castle where they enjoyed both a tour of the house and the gardens.
Thanks to LCCC and Diane from TADA, members from our committee attended Food Hygiene, Risk
Assessment and Emergency First Aid training.
As we see the support of our group from the local community, it is essential the Association continues to
grow in both its outlook and provision of care for all. As outgoing Chairman I would hope the new committee
seizes all opportunities to do so.
Finally as I step down after three years I wish the new committee all the very best and together we can forge
ahead in the incoming year.
