Congo Initiative- UK Directors, and Trustees, report for the year ended 31 December 2024 The Direclors and Trustees present their ￿pOrt and the unaudited accounts for the year ended 31 D￿mber 2024. Strncture, governance and management The tharity is an incorpjrated body atKI is under the contrd of Ihe Direclor5 and Trustees as detailed out in the charity constitution. The charity is recognised as a charty under the Charity Commission for Northem Ireland as at the dale of registration being the 6 Febnjary 2019. Organisation The Direclors and Tnjslees who have served dunng the year are detailed cmjt on page 3. The Directors and Trustees are expected to play several key rdes in Ihe funning of the charity induding fundraising, govemance, f5nanaal budgeting and audits'ng, evalualion and assessment of Ihe organisation's mission and strategic goals, resource development, public policy and advocacy, and marketing and cofftmuniratv)n. Public Benefit The directors and Trustees believe that both the purposes and the activitses undertaken in this last ￿an￿al year dearly satisfy both elements of the public benefft requiremenl Funds have been raised from small tnjsts and foundations in the UK, churches and individuals. AdvorAcy has continued in the UK thTfAJgh faith groups and interested parties allhough fundraising activrti'es have been curtailed due lo the Covid pandemic Icckdown. Work in the eastem part of the Democratsc Rewblic of Congo has been curtaiFed due lo (x)ntinued ethnic violence and inse(JJrity. With the armed interventions of the amiies of Kenya and Uganda in support of the natsonal army, there is the danger of wicreased military activity. Howev￿, in 5PI'te of these dtfficulttes, vanous CI-UK fiJnded projects have continued such as the two pnmary schools, the counsdling ￿ntre, the Mangina trade scfrKd, and the Univer￿te Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo IUCBC). A camws-wide clean water system has been completed al UCBC with a deep well water pump. Land has been purchased for the Mangina trade schod with money from the Bob McAllisler Memonal Fund. Statement of Public Benefit The charity is organised and shall be q)eraled exdusively for chatFtable. scientsfic, literacy. education and religious Purposes and to fosler the prevenlion of cruelty to children, gender abuse a￿1 actively support environmentsl protection. These benefits are evidenced by regular and substantial support tr%)th financial and pracb'cal for a number of key projects. Currently the Chanty is actively engaged in developing 8 trade school in addition to continued support of La Charilé primary schocl and the UCBC univerw. The charib'es beneficiaries are all those whose needs bnng them within the ambit of the chanty's support. Any private benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the organisation achieves its purFrf)se. All funds re￿IVed by the tharity shall be dedicated and invested solely for such purposes. Aims and Objectives The vision of the charity is to model, nurture and shape an authentic community of Chrtsys folbwers whose calling is to transform society in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The charity hopes to train and develop strong indigenous leaders to Irdnsform their communih'es in their nabon of Collgo by building CMI society on Christian P￿ncipleS of socials justice for the common gcod.
