Voices Women's Group Independent examinerfs report to the charity trustees of Voices Women's Group l am reporting on the accounts of the Voices Women's Group for the year ended 31 March 2024. Respectlve responslblllties of charlty trustees and examiner As the charitvs trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act (Northern I reland) 2008. It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act. follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 6519llbl of the Charities Act. State whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basls of examlner's statement I have ex3mlned your charity accounts as required under 5ectlon 65 of the Charltles Act and mv exami nation was carried out in accordance with the general Di rections given by the Charitv Commission for Northern Ireland under section 6519llbl of the Cha rities Act. The examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records, It also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as charity trustees concerning any such matters. My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention giving me cause to believe: I, That accounting records were not kept as required by section 63 of the Charities Act. 2. The Charity is governed by a constitution. The Charity is constituted as an unincorporated association. Purposes The charitable purposes of the charity are to promote social inclusion among women and their families who are socially excluded from society, or parts of society (hereinafter called 'the beneficiaries,) in the West Belfast area and its environs (hereinafter called 'the area of benefit,) by the provision of education, advice, training, recreation facilities and leisure time interests, general support and by any other means as the trustees shall consider appropriate to improve the conditions of the lives of the beneficiaries. For the purpose of this clause 'socially excluded, means being excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one or more of the following factors.. unemployment", financial hardship-, youth or old age., ill health (physical or mental); poor educational attainment; relationship or family breakdown; or due to their social and economic circumstances. Charitable ActivitieslAchievements Our Core funding through the Department for Communities, CED programme supports us in achieving the above purposes and to fundraise for charitable activities. Voices Women's Group In 2023124 Voices Women's Group ran a programme of activities to advance education, improve health and wellbeing, build skills and confidence and promote the active role of women in community development.. Weekly drop-in sessions giving local women the opportunity to meet in a safe and supportive space. A thirty-week programme of advice sessions, healthy eating cookery demonstrations and armchair aerobics, funded by the ARN Foundation. An Art-based programme funded by the Telecommunity Fund. A Health and Wellbeing programme funded by the Community Development and Health Network's Building the Community-Pharmacy Partnership programme to promote relationships between local pharmacist and group members through workshops exploring topics relevant to group members. A "Better Sleeping" programme funded by the CLEAR Project A Yoga Therapy course funded by the National Lottery's Community Fund. A "Managing Stress and Anxiety" programme funded by Halifax Community Grant. We launched a programme involving committee skills training and the development of a strategic plan funded by Dormant Accounts. Public Benefit In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year, the trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity's purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries. Flnancial Review In the financial year 01 April 2023 to 31 March 2024, the charity had income of £60,937 and expenditure of £54,196.
