Kells and Connor Luncheon Club

37" Annual General Meeting — 18 September 2025

Secretary’s Report for the period September 2024 — August 2025

It gives me great pleasure to present the Secretary’s Report for the period September 2024 to August 2025.

In total the club met on 35 occasions throughout the year. On average 45 members were in attendance each week which is a slight decrease from last year. We have 5 new members starting which will bolster our numbers. Based on these figures 1400 lunches were prepared. We enjoyed all the different entertainment provided from singers, ukuleles, armchair exercises and various talks. We are always looking for new entertainment.

The lunch associated outings and Christmas lunch is made possible by the treasurer obtaining grants, donations and members contributions. The committee take great care in agreeing how this money is spent for the good of the members. As we all know the cost of food keeps increasing and so the cost of future lunches will be increased from £4 to £5. The membership will be kept the same at £10.

Christmas Lunch was held on 12" December 2024 with 80 persons present. The school choir entertained us. Iris Edgar provided a great Christmas dinner, everyone went home witha full stomach and clutching presents.

The Annual Church Service was held on 6" April 2025 at St. Saviour’s Church conducted by Rev. lan Magowan with members taking part. The offering that evening of £205 was donated to the Chest, Heart & Stroke Charity. This along with the two competitions we ran raised a total of £800. This year our charity will be Parkinson’s NI.

The annual outing took place on 19" June 2025 and 44 members attended. We travelled to the Mid-Ulster Garden Centre for tea and scones and had a good look at all the garden plants and equipment. For lunch we stopped outside Omagh, Robin was a bit fraught as he hoped they had the lunch ready. We travelled back though Londonderry and the Glenshshane Pass, the bus came to a stop on the Toome roundabout but luckily it restarted. It was a very warm day and we will all remember the air conditioning!

This event ended our luncheon club year.

The committee met 5 times and different issues were discussed. At the last meeting our Constitution, Equal Opportunities Policy, General Risk Assessment and Adult Safeguarding Policy were reviewed and no changes were made.

Our total membership this year is 67. We lost Joe, Mary and Kathleen during the year. New members are always welcome and we hope those that have just joined enjoy the fellowship this year. The years seem to pass more quickly and our aches and pains don’t heal So fast. Some members are ill and we wish them a speedy recovery and look forward to them joining us soon.

Lastly, we would like to thank those ladies who give up their time to prepare the meals for us, this includes Tina who provides the potatoes and is great at the birthday singing. Also, thanks to Margaret who greets us each week and Paula and Hugh who set the tables and provides the serviettes and table decorations.

This ladies and gentlemen concludes my report.
