All Girlguiding Ulster Charities are governed by the Royal Charter and Bye-lows.
The Purpose of euch of these Charities is to educate girls and young women to
help them develop emotionally. mentally. physicolly and spiritually so that they
can make a positive contribution to their Community and the wider world.

A summary of the Charitys main activities to further its purposes for the public
benefit and the main achievements in the year
We had anotheramazingyear,with 38 girts inthe unitwho. overthe pastyear have
completed a widevarietyof activities. both from the Girtguiding Programme. and also
activities they themselves wanted to complete.
In our Summer term we enjoyed the outdoors as much as possible when the weatherwas
good. completingan ABCwalk, a visit tothe park. to the beach and ourend ofterm BBQ at
Carnfunnockwith the Rainbows, Brownies, Rangers and families.
At the end of June, 30 girls and leaders attended the Girlguiding Ulster'snores & Smores
Camp, allowingthe ￿-rtS an opportunityto meet otherGuide5from Ulster. and givingthem a
taste of what an international camp would be like.
In August, 20 girls plus leaders attended our own Annual Camp at Lorne, where we enjoyed
a fun filled weekend of outdoor activities. including Archery, Crate Challenge, Bushcraft and
Team Building activities. Thanks to funding from the PHA Ifacilitated and managed by
NACNI, we were also able to enjoy 8 Vlslt to the Ulster Folk Park. As always, It was extremely
busy, but fun and rewarding for everyonel
When we returned to meetings in September, we w￿[Comed a new cohort of Guides who
moved up to us from Brownie5. Again, thisterm we were extremelyfortunate to be in receipt
offundingfromthe Public HealthAuthority. facilitated by NorthernArea Community
Netmork, enabling us to run a programme of activities which promoted positive mental
health by usingthe 5 steps towellbeing. Thisfundingenabled usto run a Halloween
JuMpingc￿Y$ess1On. hold a Christmas Rollerdisco: run an intergenerational Drumming
Circle with our local Treloil members and face our fears by having an interactive session
with Jurassic Ark Encounters.
We also held an overnight in Lorne House during HaIl0v￿n H81fTerm. when the girls got to
travel through History. and took part in an Escape Room which looked at how Girl Guides
played a part in thewar. Theytook part in craftswhich are beingforgotten. for example
embroidery., looked at inspirationalwomen through historyand had a go at producingtheir
own 'Protest' poster about a cause that is important to them. They even got involved with
helpingto cook their own meals:
As well as all this. the girls also took part in a Laughteryoga session. completed 8Ctivities to
celebrate International Day of the Girt, took part in a Trash Fashion show. participated in
Larne'sAnnual Actof Remembrance and took part in a Sponsored Camp Fire Singingto
raise money fortheAirAmbul8nce and the Children'scancer Unit, twocharities very close
to ourunit's heart.
The newyear saw anotherfun filledtermforus. Th8nks to fundingfrom the Education
Authority. the girls were able to make wooden bird feeders which were then given. along
with some bird food. to local schools. They also arranged some beautiful springflower Jam

Jar Posies. The funding from the EA also enabled us to run a trip to Belfast to play indoor
golt, enjoy dinner together and attend a Belfast Giants Ice Hockey match-a really enjoyable
daywas had by all.This lerm also saw us complete Promise activities, Thinking Day
activities and other GirLguiding programme 8Ctivities.
Thanks to 8 grant from the Halifax Foundation. this yearwe were able to reptace vital
equipment which is fundamental to the running of the unit. ie. a printer and shredder. which
we would not h8ve been able to purchase without the grantassistance.
Throughout the year the leaders took part in training for First Ai(J. Child Protection and
running unit activities.
The Guides were involved in the running and organisation of activities throughout the year,
as Girtguiding is a girl led organisation. There was no private benefit or harm flowing from
the charity's purposes.
A statement that the Trustees have had regard to the Commission's Public
Benefit requirement statutory guidance
In planning the 8Ctivities for the year. the trustees of 5 Larne Guide Unit have had regard to
the Commission's Public Benefit requirement statutoryguidance. This enables us to
achieve our purposes and provide a benefit to the girts in the unit.
A review of the Chority'sfinancial position at the end of the year
The incomelor5" Larne Guide Unitforthefinancial yearended 31" March 2024 was
£18.148.34. Included in thiswere grants from the Educ8tionAuthority. the H81ifax
Foundation and donations from Amazon Smile Fundraising. The expenditure for the year
Was £16,915.63. The unit was also in receipt of a grant from the Public Health Authority,
whichwas facilitated and managed bythe Northern Area Community Ne￿Ork.
Detoils of any fund held by the Chority that was materially in deficit at the end of
the year and steps taken by the Charity Trustees to eliminate the deficit
