(1) Facilitating a Ghanian refugee to volunteer & study in United Kingdom (Sat 6 – Fri 19 August 2022) . Mature student Jonathan Amoah (living in Northern Ireland) supported and facilitated to travel to; volunteer and study at Capernwray Hall, Lancashire. He was recruited to the local team.
(2) Single Parent Family Residential Holiday (Sat 20 to Fri 26 August 2022) for refugee / migrant families in the Lake District / Lancashire, England. Involved - 1 leader with 5 adults, 5 children from Iran, Nigeria, Cameroon, Swaziland. The biblical teaching and diverse activities in a safe environment allowed them to spent valuable time together and with others - to relax and make memories. One was participant recruited to the local team.
(3) Winter Family Fun Day, North & West Belfast (Saturday 22 October 2022). Themed ‘Fun, Faith, and Family’ all day event to provide innovative & interactive engagement to draw individuals and families together from unionist and nationalist areas, also to include refugee and immigrant communities. ATYC fundraised and implemented this locally targeted and resourced work, supported by Capernwray Hall, a UK organisation with generational respect across Ireland.
This is seen as an initial event to identify those open to future initiatives, in order to foster good relations, mutual understanding, and acceptance of difference within a faith perspective.
(4) Facilitating a Ugandan student to volunteer & study in United Kingdom (Tues 27 Dec 2022 – Fri 20 January 2023) . Mature student Stella Lakisha (Ugandan, living and working in Morocco) supported and facilitated to travel, volunteer and study at Capernwray Hall, Lancashire.
(5) Good Relations Cinema Visit Belfast (Thurs 16 Feb 2023). Involved 2 leaders with 4 adults, 4 children from Egypt, Nigeria and Hong Kong. Cartoon feature film in a safe environment to foster cross cultural understanding & awareness of diversity in our pluralist society.
