Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustee5 of Northern Ireland Somali As50ciatio I report on the accounts of the company for the year ended 3110312023 which are Set out on page5 3 to 8. Respective responsibilities of charity trustees and examiner As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Chariiies Act (Northern Ireland) ?008 ("the Act"). It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 65 of the Act; follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65{9}(b) of the Act. and state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of the independent ¢xamÉner's report I have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and rny examination was carried out in accordance with the oeneral Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Act. The examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It a150 included consTderation of any unusual item or disclosures in the accounts. and seeking explanations from you as charity trustees concerning any such matters. Independent examiner's stalement I have completed my examination and confimi that no matter has come to my attention, which gives me cause to believe- that accounting records were not kept as required by section 63 of the Act- that the accounts do not accord with those accounting records- that the accounts do not comply with the accountino requirements of the Act that there is further information needed for a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. NORTHERN IRELAND SOMALI ASSOCIATION Notes to the Financial Statements FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2023 ACCOUNTING POLICIES Basis of prep8ring the financial statements The financial statements of the charity have been prepared on the cash basis and in accordance with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. Taxation The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities. Fund accounting Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees. Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when fund5 are raised for particular restricted purposes. Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements. TRUSTEES, REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS There were trustees, remuneration totalling £3,792 for Fatuma Nassir Maalin for the year ended 31 March 2023 and there was none for the year ended 31 March 2022.
