Summary of charity main activities to further its purpose for the public benefit:

a. The Community Garden: working with Committee members, ten volunteers and three Duke of Edinburgh candidates from within the community who have an interest in gardening. We have successfully created and maintained a garden area where members of the community can join in the activities within the garden and surrounding village floral displays to allow youth groups to learn and understand biodiversity. We have entered Antrim in Bloom and Ulster in Bloom competitions this year.

b. ICDA quarterly newsletter and social media pages informing our community what we have done and what events are planned in the future.

c. Easter fun day involving parents and children .100 attendees. d. Queen’s Jubilee event. 200 attendees

e. Halloween event- for younger children and parents. Over 150 attendees.

f. Christmas Carol Service- Community event. Over 200 attendees.

g. Thrive Well Being Festival . 60 attendees
-
h. Replaced an old defibrillator with new. All six defibrillator are all the same latest model. All registered with “Circuit” the UK wide defibrillator registration linked in with Emergency Services. All maintained by ICDA. Training provided as required.

i. Working with M&EABC, ICDA set up a Community Fridge working with local supermarkets to reduce food waste.

j. Maintained community “Drumming Group” with ten participants.

Summary of charity achievements:

a. Obtained grant funding from Mid & East Antrim Borough Council ( M&EABC) to fund insurance, new defibrillator , Jubilee Event.

b. A strong cross community spirit and interest within a rurally isolated area.

c. Communication with the community via newsletter and social media.
-
d. Set up Community Fridge with M&EABC with food donations from local supermarkets ensuring that food waste is reduced using 12 volunteers to collect and restock the community fridge. This facility is well used and provides a benefit to residents of Islandmagee.

The nine Trustees are aware of and have regard for the Commission’s benefit requirement statutory guidance.

Review of charity’s financial position: the charity’s finances are good health. Grants of around 3.5K have allowed a continuation of projects and events allowing the charity to achieve its aim.

ICDA’s governing document: ICDA Constitution.

Purpose of the Charity: To relieve poverty , sickness, assist the aged and promote benefit to all the inhabitants of the Islandmagee and district area of Co Antrim and its environs.

Appointment of Trustees: Laid down within our Constitution. When a position becomes available within the Committee a volunteer from within ICDA membership can come forward to a committee meeting and give a presentation on why they wish to join the committee and what they can bring to our charity. If the committee approve then the “ Declaration for a new charity trustee” is provided to the volunteer for signature. The new trustee will then be voted onto the committee.
