## **Chairperson’s Report 2025:**

Nicky Gilmore reported on the following activities and events carried out in 2025

We met as a group eight times throughout the year and were represented at several Remembrance Day events on the Ards Peninsula in November

Our application to Ards & North Down Borough Council for running costs to sustain the group which allows us to pay for insurance, storage facilities and venue hire, and cover bank fees was successful A letter of offer has been received for the running costs for 2025-2026. These running costs are vital to the sustainability of the group.

Our bank balance remains healthy, and we are in a strong position financially

We were invited to provide and organise three WW1 & WW 2 exhibitions in the community which were very well received and attended. These were made possible through members knowledge and loan of their personal items

Through the Cultural Expression Programme funding, we organised an educational trip to Loughgall Police Station, Dan Winters Cottage and Sloan’s House An ad hoc trip was organised to the Somme Centre in Conlig was well attended by the members of the group was also We financially supported Kirkistown Primary School to visit the Somme Centre in Newtownards

2027 is the 20[th] Anniversary of UUHF and it would be appropriate to celebrate this milestone with a special event, details and suggestions can be discussed and formalised at our next meeting

Nicky reiterated that every member has a role to play within the group and thanked them for their dedication throughout the year. He also thanked the secretary, treasurer, and vice chair for their duties as office bearers.
