Objectives
To promote membership and re(Jistration of SANDSA.
To promote. process and administer applications for 'Re¢o(rnition of Achievement for Hitrh Perfornance
Levels in Sport.:
To promote and advance education of those working or volunteering with sportin¢J oroanisations throu¢yh
the provision of traininu mentorints coachints resources and by any other charitable means as the
directors shall consider appropriate.
To promote the development of amateur sports and physical actLVlty by the provision, or assistance
in the provision, of facilities, trainin(y coa¢hin(y
forums and other opportunities for the playino of
amateur sports iTJcludino amateur sports and physical activity for disabled people in the area of benefit.
To make applications and procure fundino for sport and physical activity and by tha( promote increased
levels of health and wellbeinry within the environs of NMDDC and further to ensure that on successful
application, all terms of fundin<y are adhered to.
To create a stroncy sportino community base to improve ernpowernient and develop capacity within
the NMDDC area and in so doino make links with NMDDC and other aoencies in order to develop
partnerships and collaborations.
To promote the facilities and services offered by NMDDC and encouratre use by SANDSA members.
To assist with the administration of the annual NMDDC/SANDSA Sports Awards Ceremony and to
seek fundino for same.
To promote independent accreditation for Clubs throutrh their Governin<Y Body or Sport Northern
Ireland (Clubmark N.[.)

The charity has oiven careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's .truidance on
public benefit to ensure that the activities entered into duriniy the year have helped to achieve the charity's
objectives and activities as providin(

Membership
Membership Guarantee
In accordance with the Company's Memorandum of Association each member ouarantees to contribute
up to one pound sterlino
(£1 ) to the Charity's debts. liabilities and costs in the event of the Charity
beino wound up and for one year after ce2sin¢y to be a member.

Board of Trustees
Except as provided otherwise in the constitution the policy and ueneral manacrement of the charity shall
be directed by the Board which shall not be less than five but shall not be more than twelve (unless three
further directors are co-opted under the provisions of article(68))-
Appointment of Trustees
As set out in the Articles of Association, the Charity may by ordinary resolution appoint a person
who is willino to act to be a Trustee.
Trustee Induction and Training
New Trustees are invited to an induction meetino to familiarise themselves with the Charity and the
context within whlch it operates. These are facilitated by the Chairperson and Senior Manatrement
Team and cover:

Future plans and objectives.
Risk Mana(Fement and Uncertainties
The ultimate responsibility for the manaoement and control of the Charity resides with the Board of
Trustees and as such their involvement in the key aspects of the risk manaoement process is essential,
particularly in settinir the parameters of the process and in the review and consideration of the results.
This should not be interpreted as meanin(T that the Board must undertake each aspect of the process
rhemselves.
Reserve Policy
The charity does not maintain a fonnal reserves policy however the Board of Trustees continue to
monitor the level of reserves held by the charity and are satisfIed that these are adequate to meet
anv unforseen expenditure incurred.
Governance and Manatsement
Sports Association Newry, Down and South Amiatrh has appropriate governance structures and procedures
in place to ensure correct decision-makino and the implementation of decisions. All oroanisational chan(ye
initiatives and projects are retrularly reviewed by senior Mana￿eMent.
Operational
The Board recocrnises that a sound internal control system that can respond to significant risks: is embedded
in operational activities, is capable of reactin<J to extemal and internal chantres and will immediately report
major control weaknesses. is a key and essential component of risk manatrement.

It is reco<ynised by the Board that the Charity is operatino in politically uncertain and financially
challenoino times and that these conditions will remain for the foreseeable future. The Charity has an
excellent manatsement team and very stron(y
people and oovernance protocols.
The trustees are confident that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence
for the foreseeable future. Accordinbtrly, the Board believe there are no material uncertainties that cast
sionificant doubt on the Charity"s ability to continue as a ooin(r concern and the financial accounts have
have been prepared on that basis.

Statement of Trustees, Responsibilities in Respect of the Financial Statements
The trustees (who are also directors of Sports Association Newry, Down and South Anna(rh for the
purposes of company law) are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and the financial statements
in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accountin(F Standards (Generally Accepted
Accountin(y Practice)
Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each flnancial year, which (yive a
true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company and of the incoming resources and
application of resources, includin(T the income and expenditure, of the charitable company for that period.
In preparints these financial stateTnents, the trustees are required to:

3 Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
4 State whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any

that the charitable companv will continue in operation.
The trnstees are responsible for keepin(F adequate accounting records that disclose with reasonable
accuracy at any time the financial position of the charitable company and enable them to ensure that the
financial statements comply with the Companies Act ?006. They are also responsible for safeguardin¢y the
assetg of the charitable company and heT)ce for taking reasonable steps for tl)e prevention and detection
of fraud and other irregularities.
Small Companies Exemption
This report has been prepared in accordance with the special provisions for small companies under part 15
of the companies Act ?006.
