Structure, Objects, Governan and Management this Church is as a part of the Universal Catholic Church, the Supreme head being His Holiness Pope Leo, Syro Malabar Church is a sui juris Church with Major Archbishop, His Beatitude Raphael Thattil, as its immediate head. This Church is a registered charity under Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. Objects: To maintain and foster the traditions and doctrines of the Syro -Malabar Church and to perform all the religious services and administer sacraments for all the Syro Malabar Faithful in Northern Ireland at Lisburn, Antrim, Derry and Belfast communitieslmass centres, in accordance with the ancient Syro - Malabar traditions, as followed by the Syro- Malabar Church in India. Public Benefit The Trustees of Syro Malabar Catholic Church have fully complied with the public benefit requirements as set out in the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's statutory guidance on public benefit. Finance: The Church generates funds through charitable activities, members contributions and donations from well-wishers. The generated fund is used to provide the spiritual and social wellbeing of the community, financial assistance to the sick and the poor who require medical treatment, hospitalisation, and financial assistance to those who cannot afford education and building houses of their own and helping those who are affected by landslide and flood.
Activities: Our Liturgical and social services are conducted in 7 different Mass centres Antrim (Ballymena}, Londonderry, Belfast (Bangor and Downpatrick) and Lisburn. In every centre we have Sunday and weekday masses. Sunday catechism classes, retreats, parish feasts and anniversaries, Solemn celebration of Holy communion for children, and other social and spiritual activities, Altar servers and church choir. The activities are implemented by elected members and volunteers under the leadership of Chaplains. The Churchlcommunity celebrates Holy Eucharist (Qurbana), administer sacraments and other services according to the faith, traditions, customs and rites of the Syro - Malabar Church. And organises and conducts Sunday School studiesl faith formation for 1 to 12 classes, prayer meetings, retreats and activities of community development and youth empowerment programmes, sports competitions and arts competitions Belfast Region: The trust and region council are responsible for regional level programmes comprising all mass centres. 1. Catechism teachers training programmes. 2. Bible based arts and literary competitions. 3. Bible quiz competitions. 4, Foot ball tournament for fathers,. teens and youth. Training for the parish council members and pilgrimage to knock shrine. We are in planning this year youth residential programmes and mothers meet. Antrim Syro Malabar Mass Centre: The activities include Every Sunday people gather for mass and for one mass in Ballymena (sub centre) on last Sunday. Sunday Catechism classes - first and 3 rd Sundays and on a fifth Sunday. Bible Fests and bible quiz conducted in parish level. Youth activities- conducted a gathering 'awake' in 24.11.24 Mathruvedi (Mothers forum) and Pithruvedi (Fathers forum) doing many voluntary helps for communitylchurch and they gather for their wellbeing activities Charity payments. Given to missionaries of charity (£400) and for funeral expenses of our member departed (Binoy £500). Charity on death of Sibi in Limavady £1000 First holy communion training and communion for children done. Stations of cross and Good Friday rituals in Ballymena Slemish Mountain. Community joined Knock pilgrimage. Parish feast celebration in month of September 2024 Observed 10 days of rosary in October 24 followed by mission Sunday collections and auction. All Northern Ireland Christmas carol competition conducted in December Feast of St. Sebastian lebrated on last 3 Sundays of January. Holy week ceremonies and retreats conducted. Belfast Syro Malabar Mass Centre. The mass centre has Holy Eucharist on every Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Saint Bernadette's Church Belfast BT6 OLL. We conduct first Friday services at Clonard Monastery and First Saturday services St Bernadette Church. After every Sunday mass members of the church gather for socializing and tea and snacks together at parish centre. On every second Saturday mass at Bangor and second Sunday at Downpatrick (Sub centres). Sunday School: We have Sunday Catechism classes starting in the month of September each year. 450 students attend catechism in 1 to 12 classes, and 65
trained teachers to help them by turn. We conduct seminar for the Sunday school teachers to equip themselves to be efficient Sunday school teachers. This training is conducted in region/ parish level together they are trained the child safeguarding policies. Solemn Holy Communion was celebrated on14th April 2024 for 21 Children 3 days Bible Convention conducted on August 23, 24 & 25, 2024 Led by Fr. Binoy Karimaruthinkal, Children Retreat Led by Sehion Team UK Feast of the Nativity of our lady, feasts of St. Thomas and St. Alphonsa on 6th, 7th and 8th September 2024 First Friday service and advent preparation Naduvathaniyil. December 6th - Led by Fr. Shaju Regional Bible Quiz .1st Feb 2025, Bible Fest: Rosetta Mass center 18th and 25th February 2025, Regional bible fest. 1 st march and 8th March Youth Football Tournament on 26 August 2024 SMYM Waves of Grace - We conduct Monthly prayer to empower youth and teens Spiritual and empowering sessions organized on Sunday 9th March led by Elaine Kelly and Martina Purdy. Youth meet Led by NET Ministries Ireland on 2610112025 Take a break with Jesus- Children (Classes 1 to 12) Lenten Retreat led by NET Ministries Ireland on 30th March 2024 Trainings are conducted for Altar servers and church choir (youth and seniors) Youth seminars are conducted for those who have completed the catechism classes, and they are trained to be part of Syro Malabar Youth Movement. Those who are below 16 the boys and girls are admitted to the pious association by name CML cherupushpa Mission League the aim is to create awareness to do charities and to take care those who are very weak and poorRetreats, Parish feast and Pilgrimages.. Retreats are conducted with an intention to make faithful spiritually enriched. We had Advent retreat during the month of December, Lenten retreat during the month of April and Bible Convention during the month of August. As usual, we organised retreats thrice for youth, teens and kids separately. We also arranged youth and women empowerment programmes during the year. We had pilgrimages to Knock and Lough Derg. Derry Syro-malabar Mass Centre. One, Holy Qurbana is celebrated on every Sundays at 3.00 pm. Community joins the parish church for Friday Eucharistic adoration from 1.00 pm till 7.30 pm. Sunday Catechism classes are conducted twice in month on Sundays from 1 .45 pm till 3.00 pm Bible Fest was conducted. Lenten retreat for the community was organized. Youth Activities: Youth seminar 'lgnite', and retreat for youth were conducted. Eucharistic Adoration and Altar seNice on the first Sunday of every month were organized under the leadership of youth.
Mathruvedi (Mothers Forum) Activities: Vanakkamasam Kalamkudal (Special devotion to Mother Mary) in May, Etunonmbachranam (preparation for the feast of Nativity of Mother Mary) in September, Rosary both in zoom platform and family wise in October were organized by Mathruvedi. One day outing for mothers was conducted. Pithruvedi (Fathers Forum) Activities: St. Joseph's novena in the month of March through zoom platform was conducted. Charity payments: Cherupushpa Mission League Association helped the mission diocese Shamshabad, India. Holy Week was observed in March and Easter Eve was organized on the following Friday. Community participated in the national Knock Marian pilgrimage in May. Parish feast was celebrated in May. Father's Day was celebrated in June. Community members participated in the pilgrimage to Italy, visiting Assisi, Padua, Venice. Florence, Pisa, and Rome in August. For the Cherupushpa Mission League children "Blossom 2024" was conducted in August. Parish community one day outing was conducted in August. Jesus Youth" prayer service "Elohim Vibe" was conducted in September. Cherupushpa Mission League Day was organized in October. The community members visited the cemetery on soul's day in November and prayed at the office for the departed souls. Christmas Holy Qurbana was lebrated, and Christmas Eve was organized on the following Tuesday. Lisburn Syro Malabar Mass centre Sunday masses & Sunday Schools - 1 st and 3rd Sundays of every month. Bible Fests- conducted in mass center on January 26th, Parish feast celebrated in January 17,18,19, 2025. Sunday school Anniversary held in October 26, Saturday,2024 Advent Retreat was arranged for parishioners in Dernber 15 &16, 2024 Youth activities- Ignite - Youth gathering and sharing every 3rd Sunday, and Youth Mass Day observed in September 1,2024, Youth one day outing - September 21, 2024. Mathruvedi activities- Mother's Day - October 5,2024 Sunday. Pithruvedi activities- Father's Day - May 5th, 2024, Sunday Charity payments supported Wayanad, Kerala India as flood relief -£800, charity fund collected by children for helping the people in need-£1451.49 Conclusion The community is growing and connected by various activities and gatherings and every mass centre has many things in common and few activities in particular to the needs and circumstances of the area. Family Prayer units: Each of the 5 mass centres is divided into Family Units comprising of 10-25 families. Every month the families come together for conduct prayers, Bible
studies and programmes, socialization, sessions for children and youth which will end with some refreshment or dinner. This too adds to the closeness of our community. Parish Feasts: It is our tradition to celebrate feasts of saints. Solemn celebration of Mas procession, cultural programmes. Accordingly, we lebrated the feast of St Thomas St. Alphonsa and St. Mary in September in Belfast and Mother Theresa in Antrim in August and St Sebastian at Lisburn St. Marys, and St. Sebastian at Derry. Food and refreshments were serded to all after all the festal celebrations. Bible fest and bible quiz conducted for all mass centres to learn and meditate bible more deeply. Holy Week". After due preparation, we celebrate every year, Maundy Thursday. Good Friday and Easter. It is our usual practice to make the Stations of the Cross at the mount 'Saul' on Good Friday. And stations of the cross indifferent areas. As usual we made our annual pilgrimage to Knock in second Saturday of month of May. Church Choir: Church Choir is very active in making the Holy Sepdices live and musical. Even children are encouraged to develop their abilities to sing. As a result, we have different Junior Choirs in dlfferent Mass centres. Charity.. Our Church is thoughtful of the poor, downtrodden and the less fortunate brothers and sisters. Pithruvedi and Matrhuvedi in all mass centres organise Charity night and succeeded in collecting fund. Majority of our members are making yearly contribution to Church. CML, association of Catechism students organize auction on mission Sunday for mission support. Christmas Service: Christmas service was celebrated on 24th December. Carol Song and crib Competitions and conducted and prizes were distributed. 31 st December we had Christmas and New Year celebrations with stage programmes. Our Mathrujyothi (Association for women), Youth, Sunday School Teachers and the Committee Members are very active in organizing all our major Church events. We have claimed back Gift Aid of £26240.43 from HMRC for the year 2024-25 Future Developments.. With the support from the members and well-wishers, we hope to find permanent place of our own for worship and other activities. It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65{9)(b) of the Charities Act The Charity has kept proper books of Accounts and claimed Gift aid of £ 26260.43 from HMRC during the year. Basis of examiner's statement I have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act.
