1. Introduction
This document 18 the annual report for Rathfrlland Reformed Presbyterlan Church, Northem
Ireland Charlty Number NIC106596. This rewl relat88 to the calendar year 2022.
2. Purpose
The ¢harltable purpose of the congregation is the advancement of ￿lIgIOn.
Rathfrlland Reformed PresWer18n Church Is a congregation of the Refornied Presbyterian
Church of Ireland. The Refom7ed Presbyterian Church of Ireland exlsts to honour and worshlp
God and to Share the good news of Jesus Chrlst HIS Son.
3. Structure
Session
The charlty trustee8 of congregation arg the member8 of the Session, whlch conslsts of
the minister and one ruling elder d the congregation. In case of vacancy (where a
congr8gatlon has no minister), an acting m5nlster from withln the Presbyiery {Interlm
Moderator) Is a member of the Sesslon, though wlthout belng a charlty trnstse.
Elders and minl$ters are by a vots of all cornmunicant mernbers of the
congregatlon. Electlon of elders, calling of mlnlsters and transaction of Sesslon buslness
are carrted out in accordan￿ with the 'Code', the Book of Government and Order of the
Refornied Presbylerian Church of Ireland.
Wider Governance
In th8 Presbyterian form of church govemment Practlsed by the Refomied PreS￿erfan
Church of Ireland, each local corKJregatlon belongs to a Pre8bytery. Rathfriland
congrÈgatlon b6bngs to the Southern Presbytery of the Refomied Presbyterlan Church
of Ireland. The membershlp of each Presbytery consÈsts of tha actlve and retlred mlnlsters
of the Presbytery, along with a representallve elder from each member congregatk)n. The
Presbytery is responslble for the sp6ritual overslght of the congT8gatlons Withln Its care
8rKI meets a minimum of four times per yeaf.
The highesl court of the Reformed Presbyierlan Church is its Synod, whlGh consists of Ihe
membershlp of all the presbyteries of the church. The Synod meets at least annually to

transact the buslness bro￿ht to It by Its constituent presbyterlés and Symodlcal
Gommlttee8.
Committee Members
The committee members are responslble for the t￿nPora[ affairs of the congregation,
includlng matters related to the finances and p￿ety of the church. Commlttee members
are elected by a vote of all communlcant mernbefs of the congregatbn and are
aCc￿ntable to Session for tslr aGtivilias.
Volunteers
The congregatlon relies on the generosty of volthiteers in glving their tlme to asslst wlth
a range of activities In the church, incI￿lIr0 work wlth chlklren and young people, provlsh)n
of hospitalty. ralsing the slnglng and management of the audlo minlstry.
Activities
Public Worship
Withln the period covered by this report, Rathf￿land Refomiell Presbyterian Church has
provkled public worshlp services for Instruction and devotlon, hdd regulady at 12.00
Noon, whlch are open to all.
Durlng 2022 our evenlng Serv1￿ and mkl week's have been restrlcted due the vacancy
whlch exlsted In the congregation after the retlrement of the Rev. Ba￿Y Galbraith, the
minister for 30 years.
However. thls changed at the end of the year with the Installation of a new Minister.
Rev. Paul Flynn and our normal Touline of services was resumed. The Rev Flynn was
insta15ed on Friday the 91hDecemb8r 2022 and was attended by members of the
Southem Presbytery. members of Rathfriland congregation, frleftds and representatNes
from other local churches.
The Lord's Supper has not been observed In the past year due to the vacancy.
Participation 18 open to au who have been baptlsed and who make a Gredible prolesslon
of saving faith in the Lord Jesus ChrlsL
Pastoral Work
For the majorlty of 2022 home vlsltstlon vras Ilmlled but regular contact was made by
telephone.

Denominational Activity
Representattves of the church Session attended Presbytery meetlogs regularty, and the
annual denomlnatmal SyrKKI.
Contrlbutlons were made to central Syncrfyical funds forgeneral expenses (such as trainlng
of ministers and youth work).
Outreach and Mission
As noted above, natlonwlde and overseas mlsslon work was supported flnanclally
through contributlons to denomlnational funds (Reformed Presbyterfan Missions).
Financial Support

Instruction of children and young people In meethigs of Sunday School, Blble Class and
church servlces as well as opportunities for Infomial fellowsh5p. All leaders and voluntee(8
in the youth wod( have gone through Access Nl vetting.
Church Propety
The church propwty ts In good condlrfon after ihe completton of renovatlon work and
work carried out to med heafth and safety and disabled a￿e$S requlremenls. Regular
cleanirvJ of the meetlng house and hall look pla¢e, along wllh upkeep of tho church
grourKls and maintenance as requlred.
Recordings
The serllces of worshlp are recorded and are accessbk vla CD'S. Th&se recordings
provide access lo the pulpft minlslry to those who are unable to attend publlc worshlp
due to IU heath or other clrcumstances.
5. Public Benefit
Rathfrlland Refonned Presbyterlan Church meets the publlc b8nefft requirement by providing a
placè for worshlp (through weekly servlces of worship and other meeungs), by Increasing
awareness and understandlng of religlous bellets (through publlc preachlng from the Holy
Scrfptures, Ilterature dlstribution, pastoral counselling and youth work). and by engaging in and
supporting mlssionary and outreach Work In the Rathfriland area and overseas.

6. Financial Situation
The congregation's maln Source of income Is members contrfbutlons throuth the weekly
Freewdl Offering. Total receipts in the ygar were £33.369 (2021 £35.290).
Total income of the coryregation during the year was £65.313 compared to £52,128 In the
prevlous year.
Total expenditu￿ decreased to £33,684 from (2021 £44,163).
