A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year
Overall we had 29 active girls taking part in our unit from 1st September 2022 – 31st August 2023, as a unit we completed many group activities and badge work to learn new skills, and develop the girls confidence and self expression. There was numerous Girl Guiding UK Badges completed including ‘Know Yourself’ and ‘Be Well’. Unit events also included, craft activities, Games nights, a Chinese theme night with food tasting, a district Carol Service, and a beetle drive. We had trips to the Swimming pool and 10 pin bowling, as well as attending a Girlguiding Ulster takeover day at W5, when we travelled to Belfast on the train; this was a very exciting day for the girls and provided them with the opportunity to met other guides from all over Ulster. We hosted a “bring a friend” to guides night, to encourage other local children to come and experience what we do, and from this we gained new members. The girl guides fully embraced Camp in April, in Gosford Guide House, where they had lots of outdoor adventure and a great staying away from home experience. During the Summer of 2023 we took part in a Joint Coronation Celebration alongside our local Rainbow, Brownies, and Rangers Units, which provided a create opportunity for community fun and celebration, and a memorable day for all adults and children.
There was no harm flowing from the Charities purposes and there was no private gain from any 1st Mountnorris Girl Guides activities and events.
A statement that the Trustees have had regard to the Commission’s Public Benefit requirement statutory guidance
When planning out the agenda for the year the Trustees consider how planned activities will contribute to the aims and objectives we have set
• The Excellence strategic strand aims to maximise the benefit to each individual member in guiding.
• The Access strategic strand aims to maximise the number of girls who benefit from the Girlguiding programme.
• The Voice strategic strand aims to give our young members the opportunity to be the change in our organisation, in their communities and in the wider world.
• The Capacity strategic strand aims to improve the structure, processes and decision making across the organisation.
These strategic aims along with the very important mission set by Girlguiding UK are at the heart of 1[st] Mountnorris Girls Guides. We endeavour that through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure we empower girls to find their voice, inspiring them to discover the best in themselves and to make a positive difference in their community.
All trustees for 1[st] Mountnorris Girl Guides are aware of the Public Benefit Requirement.
