During this period, the charity principally operated “Millisle Community Hub” in Millisle – providing a charity shop, and multi-use community space. This continues to be vital Community Asset to the village and is a crucial facility, enabling various organisations in the village to provide a very high level of support to the community.

The charity trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission (NI)’s Public benefit requirement.

The charity is in a good financial position at 31[st] March 2023. We continue to build reserves with the intention to consider investing heavily in the future provision of community facilities.

The charity is a Company, Limited by Guarantee, and is governed by a Memorandum and Articles of Association, dated 3[rd] August 2015.

A summary description of the purposes of the charity

The Charity’s objects are to promote community development and urban and rural regeneration for the benefit of the inhabitants of Millisle and surrounding area (the “area of benefit”), without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability, political, religious or other opinion, and in particular to: (1) maintain, improve or provide public amenities and facilities for amateur sport, recreation and other leisure-time occupation and otherwise improve the appearance of the area of benefit and the quality of life of its inhabitants; (2) relieve of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage; (3) advance education, training, community capacity building and citizenship; (4) promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public and the local community by: (a) protecting and enhancing the natural and built environment; (b) promoting sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration; (5) promote the arts, culture and heritage and raise awareness of local history.
