authorbed body In the Church. A Presbytery has a role In seelng that mlnlsters preach the
Word falthfully to thelr (ongre8atlon5, regularly v151t the famllle5 under thelr d￿rge, vlslt
the SICK promote peace ind temperance and see that dutle5 of the elder5hlp are
property dlsthar8ed. Presbyterles oversee the reslgnatlon and retlrements of mlnlsters and
elders.
Presbyterles provlde advlce to Klrk Sesslons and Congre8atlonal Commlttees when requlred
and have a role In approvlng matter5 In relatk)n to congregatlonal property. They report
annually to the General Assembly and have the rlght to make a nomlnatlon for the office of
Moderator of the General Assembly.
The membershlp of the Presbytery conslsts malnty of the actlve mlnlsters Df con8regatlons
a55igned to It by the General Assembly, mlnlsters who have retired from actlve duty and an
elder appointed by the Klrk Se551on of the congregatlon. This provides an importart Ilnk
between the congregatlons and the wider structures of the church.

All members are entftled to propose, speak and exerdse equal votes at meetln8s, except
that the M¢derator, who 15 a minister in active duty. has no dellberatlve but only a castlng
vots.
Th• Genaral Assembly
The General Assembly Is the supreme court of the Church. representlng In one body the
whole Church and actlng as Its supreme leglslatlve, admln15tratlon and Judlclal authorfty. In
deallng wlth all matter5 brought before It. The General Assembly Is nornially constltuted
durln8 the first week In June for worshSp and to conduct Its buslness. At the end of busSness
ft Is dissofved. The membership of the General Assembly conslsts malnly of the artlve
mlnlsters of each con8re8atlon, retlred mlnsters and a representstlve elder appolnted by
the Klrk Sesslon of each con8regatlon.

and December and the second Tuesday In September and on other occaslons as required.

and bulld relationships between Presbyterlan Women. PW Ilnks Include a
representatlve from each congregatlon and run events to support the mlsslon and
outreach of Presbytery.

Presbytery fees Into The Incidental Fund and donatlons and other Income for the Mlsslons
Fund. During the year, £15,030 was recelved far the Incidental Fund Indudln8 Presbytery
fees of £15.OC¥) and £410 of Income was recelved for the Mlsslons Fund.
Total expendlture for the year from the Incklental Fund was £16,765. Totsl expendlture for
the year from the M15slons Fund wa5 £67,971. A5 at 31rt December 2022, the desl8nated
funds balance relatlng to the Mlsslons Fund was £66.964 and the restrlcted funds balante
relatlng to the Incidental Fund was £7,737.
srATEMENT OF TRUSTEE RESPONSIBILMES
The Trustees are responslble for preparlng the annual report and the financlal statements of
South Belfast Presbytery of the Presbyterlan thurch In Ireland In accordance wlth appllcable
law and generally accepted accountlng practke.
As South Belfast Presbytery of the Pre$b￿rIan Church In Ireland's total Income does not
exceed £250,000, the Trustees have elerted under Sectlon 64131 of the Charltles Art
(Northern Irelandl 2(108 to prepare a recelpts and payment account and a statement of
assets and Ilabllltles.
The Trustee5 are responslble for keeplng adequate accountlns recorfs that are sufflclert to
show and explaln South Belfast Presbytery of the Presbyterian Chur¢h In Ireland's
transactlons and dis¢lose with reasonable accurary at any tlme Its finanelal posltlon. They
afe also responslble for safe8uardln8 the assets of South Belfast Presbytery of the
Preswrlan Churth In Ireland and hence for takln8 reasonable steps for the preventlon and
detectlon of fraud and other IrTe8ularltle
