CHURCH.,
THE
NAZARENE
LURGAN
Trustee Report
June 2024
It has been quite a busy year for the church with the completion of several
projects. Firstly, being the lift has been installed and is in full working ordered
and is being well utilised by members of the church, weekly. Second with the
'Prayer Room, have been redecorated and refurbished and renamed 'The Fugard
Room, in memory of the late Pastor Jim Fugard.
Splash Sure Start continues to use the Spence Hall daily, Monday to Friday during
tern] with their developmental program. We have been advised their budget is
under review and we are not one hundred percent certain of Sure Starts use of the
Spence Hall, from September 24 to June 25. We are seeking God and praying this
source of income will continue not only in the next year but for the years to come.
In August 23 well held a Community Fun Day, with various activities taking
place. The Sanctuary was converted into a Prayer Garden with di fference stations
reminding people of our daily blessings from God. Members t.rom all
backgrounds visited and many made prayer requests. In the Spence Hall we had
a bouncy castle indoors along with colouring in stations and coinpetitions for
specitic age groups. We also had a Bake OtTwith everyone invited to bring along
the best bakes. Sadly, Rev Philip Evans, entry was eating and apparently well
enjoyed before j udging had taken place.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cllr Peter Haire and Carla Lockhart
M.P. for coming along and showing their support and for judging the
competitions. I would also like to thank those who donated prizes, Brownlow
House, and Sdy & Rons Barber Shop.
On the day we had estimated that well over 400 people came through the gates of
the church on the day and appeared to be enjoyed by all those that attended.
In December, we held our first drive in Carol Service which was not that well
attended but we were still encouraged with our efforts. We would like to thank
Hamiltonbawn Silver Band for attending and providing the music for us, which I
am sure was heard across the estate.

We also opened our doors on Christmas Day to provide a space and meal for
anyone would that have been on their own. The day was a great success, thanks
to A. Gilkinson who co-ordinated the kitchen, Avondale Foods for the potatoes
and vegetables. South Regional Campus Flower Arranging Class under the
direction of Mrs Elizabeth Dowey provided the Table Centre Pieces. Jones Estates
Agents for the Christmas Crackers.
We would like to give a massive thanks to the Evans family as whole, they were
the driving force behind this venture and gave up their Christinas Day to provide
memories for other less fortunate, showing true Christian love.
Throughout the year we have provided several Food Parcels and Baby Parcels to
those in need. It's hard to imagine people today struggling to get the basics of
lite. Praise God we have been able to minister to people from all parts of the
community. In conversation with the Rev Philip Evans, he reported that one
woman was so thankful for what the Church of the Nazarene had done for her
and her family she said her church wouldn't have done it.
Every day, we have the opportunity to sow seeds to further the Kingdom of God,
showing Christian love. It's not all about preaching but it's also about
demonstrating God love in practical tern]s as well.
We are looking forward to the year ahead and what the Lord has in store for the
Church of the Nazarene, in Lurgan. Already we have planned:

who have been promoted to glory:
Helen McKerr
Alison Lennon
Annie Louisa Castles
As the church enters a new year and new era, we am looking forward and we am
excited for the work God is doing, not only in our we church in Lurgan but across
this land and across this world. Never has it been more evident that, ' In Times
Like These you need a Saviour.,
Respectfully Submitted
