## **REPORT TO CHARTITIES COMMISSION NORTHERN IRELAND FOR DROMORE CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE May 2024**

This report compiled by the Trustees of Dromore Church of the Nazarene outlines the activities of the church from the 1[st] October 2022 to the 30th September 2023. 

## **1. The Work of the Charity** 

The work of the charity is based on the fact that the local Church of the Nazarene exists to serve as an instrument for advancing the Kingdom of God through the preaching and teaching of the gospel.  This is done mainly during the Sunday Services in the Church. 

The work of the charity was affected by COVID and this did have a big impact on the work as we lost some people to the illness.  Although we function now mainly with meetings on a Sunday and a Tuesday Evening the work we had for children did not recommence. 

During May the church building was broken into with property stolen and much damage done at the entry point and the church office.  It was encouraging to witness the response of the local community plus what the work of the charity means to them. 

In August there was an event in Dromore when many people came to the town. We opened the church for refreshments, baby changing facilities and the use toilets. There was no charge, as we wanted to show friendship to those who came to Dromore on that day. 

The Carol Service at Christmas was open for all to attend. 

After the Sunday Evening Service supper is provided to all who wish to avail of this.  We encourage people to come to this whether they come to church or not to give people the opportunity for some friendship together and get a hot cup of coffee/tea plus some food.  This is a good work for the charity as some people who have come or are coming to this live alone. 

The church has a ministry to non-members of the church whereby visitation takes place and also the availability of both our minister and premises for help as and when required. 

The church building is situated within the town of Dromore and the church is always seeking new ways of being more community involved. 



## **2. Where money comes from?** 

The money comes mainly from the regular offerings each week by the people attending worship and meetings at the church.  Another source of income for the charity would be Gift Aid. 

Total money raised in the accounting period was £21,899.60. 

Not included in above figures is missionary giving in the accounting period came to £1,460.00.  Expenditure in the same period was £1,460.00.  This money was given to missionary work. 

## 3. **How the money was spent?** 

The money was spent on the day-by-day running expenses of the church.  The single largest expenditure was to the pastor of the church who is employed by the charity.  Apart from salary no other benefits are paid to this employee.
