Rathmore Parent Teacher Association Annual Report Year from 15eptember 2017 to 31 August 2018 Charity Number 106446 The Rathmore Parent Teacher Association IPTAI was established to carry out two tasks.. Improved relationships between home and school through providing activities which contribute to partnership between the school, parents and guardSans, and the local ommunity in furtherance of the education of the pupils. Secondly to increase resources that will advance the education of pupils at the school. Review of the year The aim of Rathmore PTA members for the year wa5 to ensure, despite some harsh cuts to school fundingi that the pupils in our school community have access to interactive IT equipment and resources to create a stimulating. immersive environment to which in turn can support and enhance learning in all subjects throughout their primary school life. Our goal over the next years is to raise enough money to pay to have Interactive Display boards in every one of the 23 classrooms in the school. A resource which would not be available through the normal school budget. Throughout the year over 30 parents and teachers volunteered together to provide the yearfs activities. Activities through the year were designed to enable participation by pupils, parents, grandparents and guardians as well as the wider community. These included a Christmas and a Summer Fair, Movie Nights, Christmas partie5, and families were encouraged to find as much lost and loose change as possible through Brown Money week. Local businesses across the North Down area provided support to the PTA by providing marvellous raffle prizes. A parent and teacher quiz tested the knowledge of all. Parents were contributed to the fundraising both through attending events with their families and through a school fund appeal which was put onto an online giving page during the year. Parents provided a supportive assistance to teacher5 by providing refreshments at the intake meetings for prospective Nursery and Pl pupi15 and at the School sports days. The PTA started its financial year on I September with £12,993 of funds within its bank accounts. At its AGM in September 2017 and donation of £12,000 was a8reed for the interactive display equipment. Event based fundraising and school fund donations created £14,362 through the year Costs incurred in providing events were £1765.50 which meant that by the end of August the PTA had funds of £13,591. There were no restricted donations. At the next AGM in September 2018 a £12,000 grant W05 made to acquire further interactive display board5 and leaving a balance of funds to start the new yearfs fundraising.
Public Benefit The Trustee5 have ensured they have considered and promoted public benefit in the running of the Rathmore PTA. Funds raised are committed to purchasing resources which are additional to the statutory education budget and the PTA'S activities are delivered in an accessible way with any event prices structured to allow for participation of all familie5. The work of the PTA during the year created opportunities for Teacher Parent co-operation and raised funds which were used to buy equipment in support of childrens, education. Governance During the year Rathmore PTA became a charity registered with the Northern Ireland Charity Commission. The Rathmore PTA is governed within the rules laid down in its Constitution. Whilst it is an independent charity, the PTA is an integral part of the Rathmore school community and acts within the School's policies and practices to ensure effective safeguarding. As a member of Parentkind the PTA has in place insurance which is designed to cover a full range of the risks which might present through its work. Parentkind a150 provides the Committee with access to good practice on PTA activities and governance. Members of the PTA Committee are elected annually and represent both teachers and parents. Trustees who served during the year were: Vanya Campbell Rosemary Mountford Tanya Neeson Justin Conville Julie Hardy1School Principall Andrew Mccracken After the end of the financial year, at the September 2018 AGM, three long serving parent committee members stepped down as their children were reaching the end of their time with Rathmore Primary School. Vanya Campbell, Rosemary Mountford and Tanya Neeson were thanked for the greatly appreciated volunteering work they had undertaken as Committee members and through them over £60,000 of grants for much needed educational equipment had been provided over the previous years. The wfA also said thanks, farewell and congratulations to Justin Conville on his appointment a5 Principal of another primary school. Basis of independent examinerfs report I have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination wa5 carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charltv Commission for Northern Ireland under Section 6519llbl of the Charities Act. My examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.
