Mountnorris Parent Support Group Trustee's Report 2023
The Parents Support Group (PSG) held their Annual General Meeting on 9 February
2023. The following office bearers were elected:
Chairperson - Mrs Carla Johnston
Secretary - Mrs Andrea Hamilton
Treasurer - Mrs Karen Brown
As shown in the accounts, 2023 was a very successful year for the PSG, a lot of
hard work went in from the committee and they achieved a very substantial amount
of funds for the benefit of the school.
In February 2023, the PSG presented Mr Foster with a cheque for £2000 which was
used to buy books for the school. Also £20 was given to each P7 pupil towards their
trip to Blackpool (£220 in total).
The Port Bar, Mountnorris, kindly donated a giant Easter Egg which was used as the
main prize for the Easter Raffle which raised £157.90. Each child in school also
received a small chocolate egg supplied by the PSG.
The PSG also purchased gardening equipment for the school to allow children
develop their horticulture skills.
2023 also saw the completion of registration with HRMC as a 'registered charity, and
this allowed the treasurer to submit claims for Gift Aid. £564.73 was refunded for the
Spanish Lessons donation and £118.80 was refunded for the Santa Run
sponsorship.
Many thanks to the treasurer, Karen Brown for all her work on completing the
relevant admin procedures to allow the PSG to claim refunds for Gift Aid. This is
quite an amount of money raised for the school. Now that the process has been set
up, it will allow the PSG to consider other options to maximise fundraising for the
school.
Another source of income which involves minimal input is the income received from
the Giving Machine, an online shopping portal which raises money for good causes.
In 2023, £90.20 was raised.
Sports Day was on 26 May PSG ran the refreshment stall for the adults who
attended, and it raised £190.50.
An end of year BBQ was organised on the 22June. This was very well attended by
all the school community. There was face painting, bouncy castle, inflatables, BBQ,
ice cream and drinks. This raised £821.17 and the children had so much fun.

In June 2023, the PSG were also able to give Mr Foster a cheque for £1500 which
was used to develop the outdoor calming zone, update sensory boxes in each class
and provide some outdoor signage for the playground.
£350 was also donated to help with the cost of transport for the end of year school
trips.
The now annual 'Break the Rules, Day was great hit again for the children raising
£256.70. This was a great amount for little effort and the children love being able to
'Break the Rules,
The PSG also ran the refreshment stall at the Christmas play.
The highlight for many was the 'Afternoon of Christmas Joy, on Saturday 9
December 2023. It involved a BBQ, Santa's Grotto where families were able to get
their photo taken with Santa, a nativity scene with animals, fa￿painting, reindeer
food station, 'Make a Wish station, hot chocolate and drinks were just some of the
things on offer. This event was not only for our own school pupils but an event to
showcase the school to prospective school families in the local area. This was a
great event and it really kicked off the Christmas season.
The refreshment stall and 'Afternoon of Christmas Joy, raised £901.72.
The PSG are grateful for the support of school families and those who help the PSG
run the fundraising events in order to support Mountnorris Primary School.
This concludes the report for 2023.
