## **Constitution & Governance**

Downshire Primary School Parent Teacher Association (the PTA) is a charity registered in Northern Ireland under charity number 106318 and governed by a constitution adopted by members at an Annual General Meeting.

The period under review is 1[st] September 2022 to 30[th] June 2023. Due to the nature of the school calendar, there is very little banking activity between July & August.

The membership of the PTA consists of parents, guardians or carers of any pupil currently attending Downshire Primary School, together with teaching and non-teaching staff employed by the school.

## **Purpose**

The purpose of the PTA is to advance the education of the pupils in Downshire Primary by:

- Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school;

- Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

## **Activities & Achievements**

- A May Fair, attracting parents, teachers, children and the general village community in Hillsborough and beyond

- A Christmas Fair, attracting a similar range of people

- A treasure hunt in the local community

These activities not only raised money for the school, but provided invaluable opportunities to develop effective relationships between parents, with the staff and the community at large, generating significant support for the school in the village.

The PTA also ran the following activities and competitions for the children:

- Evening discos and in school discos

- Christmas activities and competitions

- Designing Christmas cards for professional printing

- Tea towels with the children’s drawings of themselves.
