## **9. Charity’s Main Activities and Achievements during the year.**

The group operates a range of scouting programmes for young people aged from 5-18. The group delivers age appropriate scouting to 5 separate cohorts that meet weekly. In addition each programme section organises trips over and above weekly meetings. Our sections took part in a wide variety of events including ones organised at a county level where opportunities to mix with other scouts were available. These can be day trips or overnight trips for periods of up to a week.

Our leaders attended training to ensure skills were learned and maintained to provide an effective and safe youth programme.

## **Charity’s Main Activities and Achievements during the year (contd.).**

Leaders also attended meetings at various levels to represent the group and their views

on issues within Scouting.

Our group also took part in various parades in the community including the St Patrick's day parade in Enniskillen. A large team of leaders and young people built a float and entered it into the town's main float parade ultimately winning the top prize for a third year running with their 'Shamrocks and Shared Stories' inspired float.

As a group we are open to all young people and adult volunteers without prejudice or discrimination. We have a diverse membership reflecting this.

## **10. How is the Group doing financially?**

The group is financially healthy. However, there are many challenges facing the group at the time of writing. Rising overheads and falling membership, principally. In addition to these, Scouting Ireland, to whom we are affiliated have continuously raised the cost of membership for the last past several years. This for the past few years has continued to have an extremely detrimental effect on our group finances because of reduced membership in the post-covid space. That said, financial planning within the scope of this financial year on the part of our Group Treasurer and Committee members has ensured our finances are in a much healthier position than what they were initially post-covid, ensuring we as a Scout group can continue to build back and with the said continued development, restore our group to its pre-covid state.

## **11. How has the Group ensured members have not come to harm?**

_**All volunteers receive training in Safeguarding, Programme (youth work) skills and adventure skills. There is oversight of all activity by the Group Leader and the Group Council. Parents are regularly communicated with. All activities are carefully planned and the appropriate equipment used.**_

**12. How has your Group ensured that any private benefit to your volunteers has been incidental to the public benefit of your work?**

_**Volunteers gain additional transferrable skills but this is incidental to the work that they do and the skills that they require to undertake that work.**_

**13. A statement that the Trustees have had regard to the CCNIs guidance on Public Benefit.**

_**We the Trustees of ____________________________________Scouting Ireland can confirm that in**_ 1/2/3 Fermanagh Enniskillen SG _**setting our objectives and planning for the year that we have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity’s purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries.**_
