1[st] 2[nd] 3[rd] Fermanagh, St. Michael’s Scouts Enniskillen GROUP LEADER REPORT OCT 2022 – SPET 2023
Evening all and I just want to take this moment to Thank you for giving up your Tuesday evening to come to our AGM.
As you know it is very hard to give up your time to support our young people through-out all sections and I want to take, this opponent to Thank everyone of you for doing this.
It is a great honour for me to give my first address to you all as Group Leader.
Firstly, I would like to thank Ann and Tracey for their hard work over the last few years as GL and DGL, these where hard time for the group during our time in covid, so thank you.
Secondly, I would like to note from myself and everyone at St. Michael’s Scout, wanting to wish a scouting thank you to David Monaghan for his role as County Commissioner as he steps down. He has been a great support to myself and to the group over many years. So, Thank you David.
I would also like to thank Becky for coming on board as my DGL, a great support for me and I feel this will benefit the Group going forward.
As you would know we are a bit behind where we would normally have our AGM,
So having taken on the role of GL in late 2022 there were a few things to get my head around, and with a few changes within the group council we started to work towards the Furter of our group.
It was great to see all sections doing so well, and with a second small cub night opening.
It been hard to get around a section but I do hear what is going on and it great to see our young people developing.
I did make a point to get to see all sections during their summer camps and I think I can say there was a lot of fun had.
So, moving into the new scouting term it was great to see a good amount to young people returning and a few new faces.
Our further looks good with so many young people looking to join, but that leads me on to our biggest problem getting new leader to coming on board it something we have always smuggle on and I know scouting Irelands training new Leader needs to change. But within ourself as a group we need to be shout about us and push/driving to get new leaders.
So, looking forward, as we move through-out this year we make a Hugh mile stone in this hall near the end of the year 30 year of scouting in our own hall (not many groups can say that), so I think it is only fitting that we as a group should mark this, and I hope after easter we could all met up to put together a plan.
So, to finish off I would like again to thank you all for your hard work towards our groups without you we will not have a group.
