9. Charity’s Main Activities and Achievements during the year.

The group operates a range of scouting programmes for young people aged from 5-18. The group delivers age appropriate scouting to 5 separate cohorts that meet weekly. In addition each programme section organises trips over and above weekly meetings. Our sections took part in a wide variety of events including ones organised at a county level where opportunities to mix with other scouts were available. These can be day trips or overnight trips for periods of up to a week.

Our leaders attended training to ensure skills were learnt and maintained to provide an effective and safe youth programme.

During the year, our group received a grant from the department of education to make repairs to the exterior of our hall and to completely refit our kitchen. These works will ensure that facilities are suitable for future operation. These works were completed during the financial year. In addition, further grant money has been awarded from the Fermanagh Omagh District Council. This grant will be used for the development of a grassed area for scouts to further outdoor programme like tent pitching etc. 2

Charity’s Main Activities and Achievements during the year (contd.).

This grant will be used for the development of a grassed area

for scouts to further outdoor programme like tent pitching etc.

Leaders also attended meetings at various levels to represent the group and their views on issues within scouting.

Our group also took part in various parades in the community including St Patricks day.

A large team of leaders and young people built a float and entered it into the town's

main float parade ultimately winning the top prize with their Alice in Wonderland inspired float.

As a group we are open to all young people and adult volunteers without prejudice or discrimination. We have a diverse membership reflecting this.

10. How is the Group doing financially?

The group is financially sound. However, there are many challenges facing the group ahead. Rising overheads and falling membership principally. In addition to these, Scouting Ireland, to whom we are affiliated have raised the cost of membership

substantially for the year ahead. This will have an extremely detrimental effect on our finances as we anticipate significant drop off in membership. Covid-19 is anticipated to have a disastrous effect on the groups finances as we expect to lose significant numbers of revenue generating members.

11. How has the Group ensured members have not come to harm?

All volunteers receive training in Safeguarding, Programme (youth work) skills and adventure skills. There is oversight of all activity by the Group Leader and the Group Council. Parents are regularly communicated with. All activities are carefully planned and the appropriate equipment used.

12. How has your Group ensured that any private benefit to your volunteers has been incidental to the public benefit of your work?

Volunteers gain additional transferrable skills but this is incidental to the work that they do and the skills that they require to undertake that work.

13. A statement that the Trustees have had regard to the CCNIs guidance on Public Benefit.

We the Trustees of ______Scouting Ireland can confirm that in 1/2/3 FermanaghEnniskillen SG setting our objectives and planning for the year that we have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity’s purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries.
