Middletown Market House Is leased 10 the communlty by the St Patrlck's Djocesan Trust.
The Market House was constructed in 1829 by the Trv5tees of the BtstrK)p Steame Charltles.
The Orlglnal bulldln8 is Ilsted and Is of historlcal slgnifscance. A (>evelopment Commlttee
from the communlty succe55fully obtained fundin8 to restore the Ofl8inal bullding and
extend It. It Wa5 officlally opened for communlty LFse on 27 April 2(M)l.The Middletown
Market House Management Comffllttee Is responslble for makin8 the Market House
avallable to the community and for its maintenance. Thè operation of the Maiket House Is
governed by a Constltutlon adopted on 12 Aprll 2C(12 and omended In 2017.

this year. being covered by the cash reseThes. This year Income was from rent recelved and
a 8rant. Rent receipts were down considerably whlch Is concemln
The Trustees continue to operate the facillty effitiently with the maln expenditure beln8 on
heat and Ilght, water, insurance. wages and Caretaker costs and malntenance. Costs have
deueased by approximately 24% reflectlng lesser usage and more favourable fuel costs.
Our pollcy hès been to encovroge gfeater use and avold havin8 to increase rental rates to
cO￿T Increasln8 Costs as this could be counterproductlve.

Middletown Market House Mana8emenr Committee have a Reserves Pollcy whlch requlres
the malntenance of suth'clent cash reserves to be able to operate during a per￿1 wheie
rent recelved Is reduced or nonexlstent or bi8 Items of maintenance arise.
Future Pl•ns
As the operatlon of the extended and rehjfbished Market House has passed 23 years of
operation the Trustees recognise that certaln maintenance needs wlll arise. Needs wlll be
contSnuousfy evaluated and action taken as requlred bearing In mind ihe need for value for
money and ar the same time ensure the maintenance of suffident feserves..
Feedback Irom users Is considered by Ihe Trustees and requests for addltlonal use of the
facllltles wlll be accommodated where Space is available.
