The Market Htyjse was constructed in 1829 by the Trustees of the Blshop Steame Charltles.
The Orl8lnal bulldlng Is Ilsted and is ol hlstorical si8nificance. A Development Committee
from the communlty Sutte￿fulfy obtalned fundln8 to restore the orl8inal bulldlnB and
extend It. It was officlally opened for communlty use on 27 Aprll 2(X)l.The Mlddletown
Market House Mana8ement Commlttee Is rtspon55ble for makln8 the Market House
avallable to the communlty and for its malntenance. The operatlon of the Market House Is
governed by a Constitutk•n adopted Ofi 12 Aprll 21x12 and amended In 2017.

operatlon the Trustees reco8nlse that certaln malntenance needs wlll arlse. Needs wlll be

money and at the same tlme eThsu￿ the maintenano of sufflclent reseryes..
Feedback from users Is consldered by the Trustees and requests for addltlonal use of the
facllltles wlll be a¢¢ommodated where space Is avallable.

The Trustees are fesponslble for keeplni proper Jccountln8 records whlch dlsclose wlth
reasonable accurary at any tlme the flnanclal posltlon of the charlty and enable them to
ensure that the flnanclal statements comply wlth all approprlate regulavons. They are a150
responslble for safe8uardln8 the assets of the charity and hence for takin8 reasonable steps
for the detertlon of fraud and other Irre8ularltles.
