Chairman’s Report 3[rd] October 2023
Good Evening everyone and thank you for coming to our annual PTA A G M. This is our Chairman’s report for the academic year 2022/2023.
Looking back over the events that took place last year, we felt it had been a very successful year.
All events were really enjoyed and the kids had great fun, they were very well supported by our school families and in turn were a financial success.
This success was not made on our own. The help and advice from Mrs Preston, remains ever valuable. We would be lost without the knowledge, cooperation and guidance given to us, in all that we plan and do.
We appreciate the help from our Teacher Rep, Teachers, Classroom Assistants and the Caretaker. Throughout the year we interrupted class time with raffles, tuck shop, non uniform, break the rules, and they were very patient with us. We also appreciate their helping hands on the evenings of our larger events.
Last but not least we wish to thank our Treasurer, Secretary, Committee and our very small group of Parents who help. No matter what we arrange, we need your support or it’s just not possible. A few events last year were quite manic, but you all stayed onboard ready for the next one. We do appreciate you all.
Our vision for last year was to bear in mind the cost of living crisis running economical events suitable for families. The aim was that everyone would have a great, yet affordable night.
Following are a list of events which took place throughout the year.
October : We started the year with a very busy, crazy, fabulously attended Halloween Disco. Cindy entertained with the appropriate music and dance selection. Tuck shop, Refreshments and treats were sold and each child went home with a chocolate decorated apple. A great night was had by all but it was noted afterwards that in future this event may need split in two to half the crowd capacity.
November : In November we held a fireside quiz to the theme of ‘What you may eat at Christmas’. We gained a small profit.
December : The return of the ever popular Christmas Fair was thoroughly supported and enjoyed. It was a really successful evening. We tried to run more PTA stalls which just meant we had to be mega organised. Around 10 outside stall holders also took up residence in the assembly hall and our team of elves arranged time slots for Santa. The Christmas Chaos had once again returned and we raised a very healthy profit.
PTA also gained funds from the Christmas Cards that pupils designed, Jumping Clay Christmas Workshop, non uniform day and Tuck Shop.
January : In January we decided we all deserved a break which enabled our families to recover from the Christmas Spend.
February : A jar of haribo hearts was filled and it made its way around the classes. The children guessed ‘how many hearts were in the jar’ and the closest guess won the sweets. A small profit was made at only 50p a guess. We also kept the parents busy with an early Spring Clear out. Cash for clobber arrived in its bag loads. The class with the most bags won a class party. The bags were weighed and we lodged a cheque for peoples unwanted clobber.
March : A coin trail had been agreed and arranged for March. Then the panic set in .... Who even has change, everyone uses card payments now!! How wrong were we!! The change arrived in its plentiful. Lines were measured by staff and the competition of the longest line was on. In fact it took two tesco trollies to transport the change to the counting machine. After hours of counting a fabulous profit was raised.
We also had a non uniform day and tuck shop which all helped put the pounds in the bank.
April : Break the Rules returned for a day with the pupils enjoying to pay for some freedom, snacks, no uniform and no homework. This brought in a healthy profit.
May : In May we celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III. Pupils dressed in Royal attire if they wished, enjoyed a ceilidh dance, received a party bag and each class had a bird box to decorate for our surrounding trees and gardens. A tree was kindly donated and planted by our oldest and youngest pupils to commemorate the Event. Special thanks to the Eurospar who donated tasty goodies for our party bags. This event was free to all pupils.
June : A colour run was planned for June. However after much thought and discussion it was agreed that it would be an expensive evening for our families. It was costly yet allowed little profits for our funds.
We decided to host a fun run in replacement. Pupils got sponsored to run laps of our exciting course. They had fun and got soaked along the way. We ran lucky dip, bottle stall, bouncy castles, tuck shop, hot dogs, ballot, a few free games and certificates were given to the competitors. This was a great event, it so happened it was held on one of the hottest evenings of Summer. A huge profit was raised and we completed June’s events with end of term tuck shop and non uniform.
Once again we thank you for all the support and hope our efforts have contributed to our school funds.
Heather Elwood and Lynda Moore.
