The Aim of Scouting Ireland is to encourage the physical, intellectual, character, emotional,
social and spiritual development of young people so that they may achieve their full potential
and as responsible citizens, to improve society.

## **9. Charity’s Main Activities and Achievements during the year.**
At the outset of the Scout Year, 1[st] September 2023 through to 31[st] August 2024, the Scout Group had a youth membership of 55 supported by and adult leader team of 28.
The Group operates 4 active Programme Sections who met each week throughout the year as follows:
Cub Scouts – Tuesday night 7.00 – 8.30
Scouts – Friday night 7.30 – 9.30
Venture Scouts and Rover Scouts – Sunday night 7.00 – 9.30
Throughout the year the Group took part in a range of activities that were organized as part of the Down and Connor Scout County Programme of events in addition to the following events and activities that were organized by each of the individual sections within the Group:

October – indoor residential weekend at Ballyhornan Scout Centre
February – indoor residential weekend at Ballyhornan Scout Centre
April – weekend camp at Moira Lakes
June – weekend camp at the Wild Atlantic Centre in Donegal
## Scouts
September – weekend camp in Crawfordsburn
October – weekend hike in Donegal
November – indoor residential weekend at Ballyhornan Scout Centre
December – ice skating at Dundonald Ice Bowl
January – night hikes on Black Mountain and in the Mourne Mountains
May – weekend hike in the Wicklow Mountains
June – weekend camp in Gosford Forest Park
July – week long Summer Camp in Lough Dan, County Wicklow
Venture Scouts and Rover Scouts
September – weekend camp at Moira Lakes
January – indoor residential weekend at Ballyhornan Scout Centre
February – indoor residential weekend at Ballyhornan Scout Centre
March – took part in the County Venture Formal Ball
July – week long Summer Camp in Lough Dan, County Wicklow
Collectively, the Group also raised in excess of £1000 for the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team and assisted the local community by running a fund raising stall at the parish Xmas Fair.

## **10. How is the Group doing financially?**
At the opening of the financial year on 1[st] September 2023 the Group held a balance of £6,915.65.
The Group income for the year amounted to £16,809.40 consisting of £3,040.00 by way of membership fees, £5,684.40 by way of grant income and £8,085.00 by way of other fund raising activities including payments for events and activities undertaken by the membership.
The Group expenditure for the year amounted to £17,401.12 consisting of £4,606.50 by way of membership fees to National Office, £12,260.00 by way of payments for events and activities undertaken by the membership and £534.62 by way of administrative costs.
This left the Group with a closing balance at the end of the financial year on 31[st] August 2024 of £6,323.93.
## **11. How has the Group ensured members have not come to harm?**
All volunteers receive training in Safeguarding, Programme (youth work) Skills and Adventure Skills. There is oversight of all activities by the Group Leader and the Group Council. Parents are regularly communicated with. All activities are carefully planned and the appropriate equipment used.
**12. How has your Group ensured that any private benefit to your volunteers has been incidental to the public benefit of your work?**
Volunteers gain additional transferrable skills but this is incidental to the work that they do and are the skills that they require to undertake that work.
## **13. A statement that the Trustees have had regard to the CCNIs guidance on Public Benefit.**
We the Trustees of 10[th] Antrim (St Anne’s) Scout Group, Scouting Ireland can confirm that in setting our objectives and planning for the year that we have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity’s purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries.
