They took part in a Beaver ovcmighi camp in Ardnavally Swut Centre, working through a rang¢ of aclivilics Ihat th¢ older Scouts had designed and set up. Cub Scouts Thc c.ubs Icarnt and utilised a rangc of skills over the year, for examplc, using Square, Norwegian and Tourniquet lashings to build a giant Chair. Cubs workcd on Air Skills badgcs making papcr airplancs, and Firsl Aid tcchniques as well as lots of backwoods cooking. They also had lots of fun making pancakes on PancakL Tuesday) pfdcticing map reading. The youth mcmbcrs look part in a nighltimc hike in Belvoir Forest, and a Mourncs hikc through Tollymorc Forcst and up Lukc's Mounlain, making improvisLd stretchcrs and building shcltcrs en routc. Thcy finishcd the ycar with a weekend camp in Crawfordsburn Scout Ccntre. Scouts Section

The Scoui programmc consisted of pioneering and backwoods skills, with an emphasis on Icamwork dnd Icadership development within their Patrols, cspecially on hikes and camps. Thcy practiccd thcir culinary skills by cooking a range of tyPlC(il caTnp food (ind also h¢althy alternativcs. As with other years, Ihc Scouls prepared for and participated in ihL Colurnbanus Shield compctition. Thc prograinmc of the Coluinbanus Shield competition takcs placc during a weekend camp with only arnis-length supervision, when Ihe Scouls construci d traditional standing camp. creating all cainp gadgcls and cooking ovcr fircs wilhin an cight-pcrson patrol. Scouls also organized and took part in the County Mountain Pursuit Challenge. a weekend's hillwalking and wild camping in the Mourn¢ Mountains in June, open to all Scout Groups in the Down & Connor Scout County. Venture Scouts Throughout Ihc year Ihe V¢ntur¢s have complclcd a vdricty of outdoor activities, including orienteering, hikes (Cave Ilill, Mourne8, Black Mountain), overnight and weekend wild camps in thc Mourncs. Sevcral Vcnlures attended thc 29th B¢If￿( Panto in Ihc Watcrfront Cvcnt, and also th¢ County Vcnturc Ball. Thc majority of the VLnturc Scouts arc rcgistcrcd to complctc thc Dotl, Silver Award. Our prO￿amMe is d¥%ibmcd to allow ihL Vcnlurcs lo gain cxpcricncL in Ihc diffcrcnl aspccts of Ihc awurd, including map work, camp crnft and first aid as wcll as public scrvicc voluntccring.
