In setting our objectives and planning our attivities for the year the trustees have given careful consideration to the Chartty Commission for Northern Ireland's guidan on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the chariws purpose and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries The direct benefitswhich flowfrom the purpose of Bangor Brownie Unit are to promote the education of girls and youngwomen to helpthem develop, emotionally, mentally. physicallyand spiritually so they can make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world and develop their full potential. Girlguiding is a girl-led tharty. taking its direction from the evolving needs of our young members. We give girls a voice- in the charity. in their communities and in the world. Young people are actively involved in shaping their own programme of activlties, both locally and regionally within our youth participation framework
The benefit to girls and young women is that they will have increased confiden. they will learn new lrfe skills. will gain leadership sknlls and learn how to work as a team. The wider benefit to the community at large is enhanced social education and responsible cttizenship that flows from the purpose. These benefits are demonstrated through the feedback provided by young people and the voluntary leaders in the unit. reviews by yOLrth council. statutory youth seices. government departments and independent evaluations of trainin& progrdmmes and events. Beneficiaries The charity's beneficiaries are girls. Membership of 12 Bangor Brownie Unit is available to all girls aged 7-10 through our informal education programme. Restrictions Any girl aged 7-10 years may benefft from the activities of the charity. Activities and benefft to beneficiaries Girlguiding believes in the value of leaming by doing. This is put into practice through a Method with five interlinking elements. known as the Five Essentials of guiding= working together in small groups encouraging seFf-government and decision making a balanced and varied programrne caring for the individual sharing a commitment to a common standard The Guiding Method is delivered to young members of Brownie Guides. Its principles apply to all members. including adults. Specifically. 12th Bangor Brownie Unit: Held 24 weekly meetings for 35 girls. These involved a wide variety of activities such as crafts and cookin& and special guests: Pantomime vtsitto l Bangor Church: Activtty visit to Ards Leisure Centre mini-8olf and climbing wall: Visit from Assisi animal shelter
Visit from Claycrazy." Visit from the Council recycling team. The unit meetings were suspended on March 16 2020 due to the Covid outbreak. These activities were organised and run by the Trustees in a volunteer capacity. Volunteer leader5 attended the Child Protertion Safe Space training course. The specific activlties carried out have met the purpose of the charity during this period and provided a clear benefrt to the girls. Harm There is no harm flowing from the purpose of 12 Bangor. Brownie UniL Private Benefrt There is no priwate benefrt flowing from the purpose. Risks There are three main risks to the charity: Insufficient volunteer leaders. Insufficient girls to attend. Covid-19. l and 2 areforecast to be an issue atthistime. Subsequent tothi5 yearend. Brownie5 has resumed for a limited number of girls. using Zoom. Financial revlew At the 31st of August 2020 the Account balance was £38120. The income for the year was É2329.69. The expenditure for the year was É226L38. The Unit has no other assets or liabilities.
