A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year
12th Bangor Rainbow Unit is a group of girls aged between 4 years old and 7 years old who met 31 weeks of the year on Monday evening from 6.30pm -7.30pm. During the year September 2024 – May 2025, there were 20 Rainbows in the Unit and 2 Young Leaders aged 16 with 4 adult Leaders. The Rainbows took part in games, did crafts and badges throughout the year. They also learnt about voting as part of the UK Parliament Week where they cast their vote in a “ballot box” on what activities they would like to do in the second term: an end of year trip to Lorne won! From September to December, they worked toward their Express Myself Theme Badge and completed their Storytelling interest badge. In this term, the Rainbows also had a science night and went to Lorne House for a Christmas adventure. From January to May, they completed the Take Action Theme and their Helper interest badge. Activities this term included making bird feeders for the Big Garden Birdwatch week in January, a pizza party night where they made their own pizzas, learnt about looking after the environment in a series of games and craft, and learnt about looking after nature by making butterfly feeders. In February, the Rainbows attended the Thinking Day service where they joined with Brownies and sang a song in front of the congregation. We also had a trip to Asda where they got to see behind the scenes in the storerooms and in the big walk-in fridge, as well practicing scanning shopping on the tills. We finished the year with a visit to Girlguiding HQ, Lorne, where the girls did the climbing wall, sewed wildflowers seeds where we had our end of year badge presentation where we presented one of the Rainbows who was moving up to Brownies with the Unit’s first ever Rainbow Gold award.
