## **Annual Trustees Report 2024** 

## **Aims and Objectives of the Charity** 

_The Charity’s objects (‘the objects’) are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the greater Derrygonnelly area and it’s environs (the ‘area of benefit’), without distinction of gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, race, ethnicity or political, religious or other opinion, and in particular:-_ 

_(1) To promote community development and citizenship by all or any of the following means:_ 

_(i) provide facilities for and organise community and family events in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants;_ 

_(ii) provide facilities, amenities and support to community and voluntary groups and organisations;_ 

_(iii) advance active citizenship and volunteering in the community;_ 

_(iv) foster a sense of community by encouraging and celebrating a sense of place, civic pride and an appreciation of all aspects of local heritage._ 

_(2) Relieve those in need by reason of youth, age or other disadvantage by making available facilities and resources that will enable those who lack access to services or experience social isolation to participate in recreational, social, cultural, educational and other types of activities and events._ 

_(3) The advancement of heritage, culture and the arts by:_ 

_(i) preserving, restoring, maintaining and improving, for the public benefit, Derrygonnelly Orange Hall, a Grade B listed building of historical, cultural and architectural interest;_ 

_(ii) acquiring, preserving, interpreting and displaying documents, books, photographs, maps, oral recordings, artefacts and other items relating to Derrygonnelly Orange Hall and the social and cultural history of the area of benefit, thereby promoting interest in the past, present and future of that community;_ 



_(iii) carry out research into the social, cultural, religious, political and economic history of the area of benefit and disseminate the findings of such research;_ 

_(iv) either alone or in association with other organisations or agencies, organise and present artistic activities and events, festivals and performances;_ 

_(v) promote and enhance awareness and understanding, and encourage acceptance of, all indigenous customs, traditions, beliefs and artistic expression in the area of benefit, in particular those relating to the Ulster Scots culture which is strongly represented in the area of benefit._ 

## **Activities and achievements 2024** 

Our regular user groups carried on with their regular meetings and activities during 2024, they included Orange Lodges, Derrygonnelly Women’s Orange Lodge, Inishmacsaint Mother’s Union and Girl’s Friendly Society, Derrygonnelly Bowling Club and Derrygonnelly RBP. 

Derrygonnelly Primary School have used Derrygonnelly Orange Hall for their Leaver’s assembly and Christmas play, with the associated rehearsals taking place in the Hall. Their Parent & Teacher’s Association also ran a fund-raising Table Quiz in February. Once again Derrygonnelly Art Group received funding from the South West Age Partnership to run a programme of Art Classes for the over 60’s. As their normal venue was under renovation work Enniskillen Badminton Club were unable to use it for weekly badminton games, we were able to offer them use of our building for the four months that building works took place. 

During the year we employed a joiner to carry out repairs to the Sliding sash windows throughout our building. We also applied for and received a Rural Micro Grant from DAERA, this was used to replace the Fire alarm system which was over 15 years old and had become outdated. 

During the year we had a newly formed Derrygonnely Junior Orange Lodge, this has seen 25 boys aged 6 – 16 years join the group and use our Hall for monthly meetings and activities.
