## **Trustees’ Annual Report for the year ended 31 March 2024**

The trustees present the Annual Report and Statements of Receipts and Payments and Assets and Liabilities for the Parents and Friends of Glenside Community for the year ended 31 March 2024.

## **Objectives and Activities**

We aim to promote and support adults with a learning disability in Strabane, Newtownstewart, Castlederg and Donemana Areas in a charitable way.

The Parents and Friends of Glenside Community raise funds through grants, fundraising activities and the receipt of gifts and donations which are then used to provide equipment, training and social activities to those who attend Glenside Adult Training Centre (alongside the Satellite Centre in Castlederg) and live within the wider community.

Glenside Adult Training Centre is funded by the Western Health and Social Care Trust (WHSCT) and staffed by suitable, qualified personnel. The activities and equipment provided through funds raised by the Parents and Friends of Glenside Community are designed to complement the provision of WHSCT.

The centre users are provided with opportunities to develop new skills in education and the arts, to improve their health and to become more integrated into their local community. This results in advancement and promotion in equality, human rights and social inclusion.

## **Review of the Year**

Coming out of the worldwide COVID pandemic has been a challenge for many charities and organisations with the Parents and Friends of Glenside Community being no exception. Many of the Charity’s office bearers, trustees and committee members have faithfully served for many years freely offering their time and talents. It is to their credit the Charity is where it is and has stood the test of time.

In Autumn 2023, the Committee ‘regrouped’ after COVID with a change in personnel in some key roles necessary as individuals stepped down having served as office bearers. It is with deep gratitude we thank those individuals for the commitment and dedication they brought to their roles.

The Parents and Friends of Glenside Community are thankful for the support we receive from the local community – in particular for their support of the Annual Christmas Draw which continues to be a key fundraiser for the Charity. We are also thankful to NFU Mutual for their generous grant to the Charity during the year and to all who have held their own individual fundraising events and donated the proceeds to the Charity. Your support does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

The year ahead will continue to see the Charity fundraise; all with the sole purpose of providing the service users of Glenside Adult Training Centre with some ‘added extras’ to

complement what is already provided through the WHSCT.

## **Financial Review**

A review of the Receipts and Payments Account on page 9 and the Statement of Assets and Liabilities on page 9 provides a comprehensive and clear overview of the Charity’s financial position.

There is no distinction between unrestricted and restricted funds.

## Income

The breakdown of income can be found on page 9.

The Charity’s main sources of income continue to be from fundraising activities and donations and we are extremely grateful to all who support our fundraising efforts and forward donations. Without this support, we would simply be unable to provide the support to the service users.

As previously mentioned, we also received a £3,221.50 grant from NFU Mutual for which we are thankful.

Expenditure

The breakdown of expenditure can be found on page 9.

As can be noted from this breakdown, most spending is on service users which is the primary function of the Charity.

## Overview

The Trustees take very seriously their stewardship role overseeing the Charity’s finances.

As at 31 March 2024 the Charity is considered to be financially viable, holding an adequate level of funds in reserve and showing no cause for concern.

## **Going Concern**

The trustees have reviewed the plans for the year ahead and are satisfied that there are adequate funds in place to ensure that the Charity can continue its activities and the financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2024 can be signed off as a going concern.
